I was driving approximately 45mph and all of a sudden the instrument cluster lit up like a slot machine in Vegas and flickered and then shut off. Car is disabled and nothing is functioning for a few seconds then back to normal driving operation. I drove home which was another 5 minutes and parked and it would not start again.
I have it hauled to the dealer because I figured it was the alternator recall that caused the issue. The dealer does the alt recall and an airbag recall and tells me to pick the car up. I pick it up and pull out of the dealership and notice my car is running like crap! Won't shift in to 2nd gear and the fans won't turn on. I immediately turn around and before I get a chance to park in front of the service shop it starts blowing coolant everywhere. Pls view pictures attached.
So the service manager calms me down and a few days later they call and tell me it needs a new water pump and it's overheating because of a bad thermostat. He wants to charge me almost 900$! I say hell no and have it towed home and replaced the water pump, belt, idler pulley, belt tensioner, thermostat, and temp sensor for less than 450$ (Warranty Parts Specialist) so I can make sure it's done right.
The car starts up first try and sounds great! After a few minutes I shut it off to verify my work. Start it again. Sounds great! A few minutes later I shut it off. Verify and re-start. Sounds great but starts overheating quick so I shut it off so it does not damage the engine. Now it will not start again. Help!!!!!
