About These NHTSA Complaints:
The NHTSA is the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints can be spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem. See the Back button — blue bar at the very top of the page — to explore more.
On my 2006 Dodge Charger R/T I had a low tire pressure light. I tried to remove the tires valve stem cover and the valve stem which is an integral part of the tire pressure sensor broke in half which deflated my tire completely within 10 seconds. 3 out of 4 valve stems did this. After contacting my local dealer they told me that this is a really big problem not only with the Charger model but all of the models. If this valve stem broke off during driving you would have no warning and an immediate and complete loss of tire pressure could occur. Which could lead to a loss of control, especially if it was in the front during the winter like it is now. Luckily mine broke while in the garage.

: the contact stated while in a left hand curve at 23 mph, the passenger side tire separated from the wheel. The tire pressure sensor light did not illuminate to warn the contact of low tire pressure. This caused the vehicle to go off of the road into a trench, bouncing between either sides of the trench. The vehicle hit six trees and ended up pinned against the mountain on the passenger side. Most of the damage occurred on the passenger side. The airbags did not deploy and the seat belts were worn. The indicator light that states the passenger side airbag was deactivated was illuminated. The occupants sustained injuries. There was a police report taken at the scene. The vehicle was towed to a dealership, where repairs were started. That dealership was unable to perform all necessary repairs; therefore, the vehicle was towed to another dealership. The vehicle has not been returned to the contact.
