About These NHTSA Complaints:
The NHTSA is the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints can be spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem. See the Back button — blue bar at the very top of the page — to explore more.
I drove car the night before and everything worked properly. The next day I started the car and tried to go into reverse. The gear wouldn't move. It was stuck in park. I tried the pink button by the gear box and that wouldn't even get the gear out of place. I had to get the car towed to a Chrysler/Dodge service. I was informed I needed a shifter assembly which was not covered in my extended warranty and my manufacturer warranty had expired. It cost $350 to fix. I talk with other Dodge Charger owners who have said this has happened to them and had to pay out of pocket to get this fixed. This is obviously a manufacturing problem if different people from different states and dealerships have complained about this problem. This should be replaced by the service regardless if have a warranty if this is a defect created originally by the manufacturer.

My car is stuck in park! I have no idea what happened. I drove it today with no problems then all of a sudden I try to leave and it wont allow me to put it in reverse. I have seen a numerous amount of complaints online with people having the same problem so this is something that is common with these cars. "my car hasn't been repaired yet!" I don't think I should have to pay for something that I didn't cause.

2007 Dodge Charger, only 50,000 miles. Automatic transmission. Car stuck in park. Numerous on line complaints regarding Dodge vehicles of various models.

Parked car in driveway, set hand brake and it failed. Was told by dealership and Dodge customer service that it is a "periodic adjustment" that must be made to the hand brake. We were not informed of the need for a "periodic adjustment" at time of purchase, and it is not post anywhere in the. Adjustment cost out of our pocket. Car one year old.
