I am so upset about what is going on with this engine....In July of 2017 paid 6300.00 to have new rebuilt put in as the original blew up. On the 13th of this month noticed a little smoke out of tailpipes only sometimes. Called my awesome mechanic at R and R in Modesto, which he put another engine in, and checked it. He called company he bought it from and they don't know if they can do anything about it as my warranty expired 20 days prior, this is BS!!!

I AM 71 YEARS OF AGE, JUST PAID OFF VEHICLE IN JULY, 0NLY 15,000 ON THIS ENGINE AND I DON'T SPEED!!!! If they refuse then why doesn't MOPAR step up to the plate as I have read these are a bad engine. I have driven a Mopar since I was seventeen and am thoroughly upset that they don't stand behind this engine. The least they could do is contact customers that keep having problems, but maybe all they care about is selling cars. Thank you for your time for letting me vent, and no I can not afford another vehicle.......

Read up on the problem on the make and engine problem and it seems Dodge has known about the problem with the seat all along. I have always had Dodges and when Husband passed decided to buy a Charger. Tried to start it and it sounded like rocks in engine and would not start, had it towed to mechanic where he informed me what the problem was.....Why is it Dodge doesn't help fix the problem, instead of someone on SS TRYING TO COME UP WITH THE MONEY!!!!! Very dissatisfied with Mopar

Motor is blown. No warning. This car always ran like a dream. Right up until it blew. No warning...it was quiet as could be...and you could barely hear it idling. No symptoms and my hubby and i just can't get over the shock because neither of us saw this coming.

Once day I go to a picnic, and then when i am leaving, i go to start it up and it won't start. A mechanics is at the party..... so he comes and looks at the oil and such....all looks good, but it doesn't sound good he says...won't start. although he didn't really get into it...just looked at the basics for a car that doesn't start. No leaks, no problems visually. i tell him this is the first time its never started...never had any problems with it running rough or starting on the first try. Bewildered.

Have it towed and garage says motor is blown. Something internal. Gonna cost big $$ to replace motor. I have no other choice, as i need a car and the motor IS the selling point of this car. I am not prepared to buy a new car right now. I'm leaving on vacation in 2 days.

At a purchase price of over 35K 9 friggin years ago, this is unacceptable for a well-maintained motor. I took great care of this car as i saw it as an investment and planned on giving it to my adult son in 2 years. I had planned right from the beginning to keep it for life. i don't even drive 10K a year. A motor this large should have lasted longer than 70k and its evident that this is an internal defect even if Dodge doesn't want to acknowledge it. You hear that DODGE?????????? You would expect this maybe with a little 2.0 cylinder...or a 15k price tag. But come on....topping out at almost 40K for a vehicle? UNACCEPTABLE.

It's actually very heartbreaking for me as this was a very expensive car at the time, which i fell in love with and spent an enormous amount of money to properly maintain. It's been a money pit to maintain. I always said it was truly a luxurious car to own....I mean what do you get? 11 miles to the gallon?

I have purchased, brand new, over the last 23 years, 4 new dodge cars- 2 Intrepids and 2 chargers with Hemi's. I only dumped my first charger to trade it in for an all wheel drive version to get better traction in the snow. Seems I can't get anymore than 9 years out of Dodge cars no matter what I do or how much I spend. Through no fault of mine, I am out 6k+ for a defective product. No one stands behind their products anymore.

It's likely I won't buy another Dodge product unless Dodge makes good on their faulty engine...which I am sure they won't. But hey, someone else will eventually enjoy my next 40-50K spent at their dealership, or maybe I'll just buy some beater cars for the rest of my life. I'm so devastated that despite me meticulously maintaining it, it didn't even last through a very, very BASIC car's value. There is absolutely no reason a well-maintained motor with only 70K should blow without warning.

It's a hard pill to swallow when you know you did everything you could and the product just ended up being crap and it makes me wanna cry that i got duped. Never in my life did I expect this. Look at that pretty engine...all pristine-looking...only to know its a piece of crap, internally.

I think I've had enough, Dodge.

Drove around to do errands. Parked at supermarket. Car wouldn't start and sounds of loose metal came out of engine. Had the car towed to dealer where, after pressure test and removal of the head confirmed a failure due to loose pieces that broke off from the valve seat of cylinder #6. Dealer explanation - overheated engine. It is an aluminum block, I was told, that, when overheated, will allow a steel ring where the valve is set in the head to break loose. This can't be repaired. Need a replacement engine. Dealer wanted $10,000 found a small shop that will put a refurbished engine for half that price.

does anyone know if there is any recourse with the manufacturer?

Charger RT Performance Group 5.7L V8

Saved and saved and spent my life's savings on a 2007 Charger RT Performance group paid off in full. 83k miles on it, super clean, well maintained. Put 1.5k more miles on it. Stopped for gas after a 5 mile drive. Upon restarting, valve seat dropped and it sounded like a transformer gang bang under the hood. I scoped it and pieces of the seat got blown into the cylinder and I need a new engine. Can't afford one and can't get to work now.

Charger SE XST 2.7L

When I bought the Charger used my mechanic went over it, changed the plugs, flushed the cooling system and changed the coolant. I also had the transmission serviced (twice). My mechanic specifically advised me to change the oil frequently and use nothing but high quality 5W - 20 due to sludge problems leading to engine failure. Because the car was under a Lubrico warranty I did just that and reported the service online

having said that I had an oil change at a garage that I had done business with years ago and trusted them to do a good job.

800 kms after that oil change the engine disintegrated while I was passing a car on a 2 lane hwy. The warranty people were very good as was the repair shop the car was towed to. They examined the engine thoroughly and reported a rod through the oil pan. They determined the problem was caused by lack of oil pressure under stress. There was no sludge in the pan or upper engine and the oil pump was in good condition and functioning properly. All said and done, their opinion was that the garage may have used the wrong SAE oil and the oil filter was cheap and did not have enough bypass capacity to lubricate the engine under heavy acceleration, causing the engine to disintegrate.

Bottom line, be sure your oil is changed frequently, use high quality oil and high quality filters. DO NOT USE CHEAP AFTER MARKET PRODUCTS.
