Not much to say, I thought this issue was my fault as I was a bit late on getting the oil changed.. A couple thousand kilometers past, though I still had plenty of oil. Now I come to find through my research this is a very common problem with the 2.7L motor, and my engine failed right in the average range for this type of problem. I don't understand why Dodge would continue to use a motor that was considered faulty... I will be upgrading the motor to a 3.5L and then selling my vehicle. This will also be the last new vehicle I purchase from Dodge.

Bought my car and less than 800 miles the engine blows.
Very pissed off and now I read that this is common for my car on here'
The valve busted and piston 4 is bad plus head gasket is f*d badly. It's a shame Dodge won't check into this and fix the problem. F

My mother bought my brother this 2007 Charger brand new as a reliable means of transportation. In 2010 my brother was killed and my mom gave me and my husband the car. My husband drove the car with no real issues. Until this year on his way to church the car would not cut back on after he stopped at the store. It was towed to two different shops and the second one offered two options: 1) put in an engine for $4500 that may stop working in 3 months and that only has a 3 month warranty or 2) pay $5500 for a new engine with a 5 year warranty. Well we would like to go with option 2 but we have no idea where the heck to come up with that kind of money for a car that is barely 5 years old! A friend of mine spoke with a mechanic who used to work at a Chrysler dealership and he told him that Chrysler has a lifetime warranty on the Charger engines except for, you guessed it, the HEMI!! I am totally disappointed in Chrysler for this and I think that a class action lawsuit should be filed because an engine should minimally last 100,000 miles.. I'm disgusted and stressed!

Crankshaft is locked up. Camshafts and timing belt are good. Recent oil change, but oil has droplets of water showing. Starting the engine teardown to see what happened. From reading online, it is probably sludge blocking oil flow in the crankshaft, which will be a bearing failure and seizure. There are no codes on the computer.
Update from Sep 26, 2017: OK, I am correcting my complaint now that I have taken the engine apart, and got it running again last night. There were two failures on the piston connecting rods on cylinders 1 and 2. No 1 rod was broken and No. 2 bent. It is mostly likely due to hydrolock. The air intake is in the front bumper and this car is low to the ground. Apparently from hitting high water, the water could have been sucked up via the intake which caused 1 to break, and 2 to bend. I did not see any other high water in the car such as under seats or carpet.
