Charger STS V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 55,000 miles

Husband was actually out of town for a few weeks when he noticed that the transmission would not come out of park. When he got it towed to the shop, they informed him that it has been a very common problem with the '07 chargers. I don't know why they haven't made a recall on this. I think that has been what has made me the most mad about the whole thing.

After working 9 hrs I come out to my car & its stuck in park. I call the dealership the next morning and they say it is covered under my extended warranty, but I have to have it towed to them. Guess what? It's not covered. Why did I even buy this coverage if it won't cover things like this? I did not cause this problem. My husband & I were thinking of buying him a dodge truck until this happened. Also sun roof has had to be fixed twice. The second time I had to pay for it. Not happy with dodge service & warranties.

We own a 2007 Dodge Charger and we drove it one night, parked it in the drive and the next day it wouldn't shift out of park. We tried pushing the pink plastic tab but it didn't work might as well have picked our nose!! No wonder Dodge trails Chevy and Ford . As soon as I get this piece of junk fixed I'll trade it for a foreign car. I agree with the other complaints that a recall should be made on this problem.

I reccomend that unless Dodge gets of their a** and does something aboute this you dont buy a dodge. This car has been in the shop for major repairs several times that according to Dodge "It happens to these cars". This time around it was the "Shifter". Like I said when i asked what could have caused this to happen. According to "Dodge" it happens to these cars. I said what kind of other Sh** happens to these cars that i should be concerned aboute. That after they change it the first time the cars have not been returned for the same incident. So if you have a Charger Take it in and tell Dodge that this needs to be fixed before it happens. Luckily I was able to get this fixed under my extended waranty. Just think how much this would be to get fixed if i did not have it. And i am sure that they would just let me have it.

Dodge should recall all makes and models that have been equipped with this cheap piece of "pink" plastic! I guess that is the way to keeping us coming back!

Charger SXT 3.5L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 21,000 miles

My 07 sxt Charger with only 21000 has locked up in park. As I have been looking to see what the problem is I have found that this is not a isolated problem with this car. I called my dealer and this is not a recall problem and I was told that this is a common problem with this car by the dealer and other mechanics. The clip in the shifting mechanism brakes and the hole shifting mechanism has to be replaced. at 250 +!! I think that any one with this problem needs to let Dodge know that means flood them with complaints on this matter as I have. So it can turn into a recall. The more the complaints the better. 1800-521-2666 for complaints.

Charger 5.7L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 39,000 miles

Came out of work (10 hrs shift) my car wont shift out of park. After trying everything in the book had to call a tow truck, they took it to a mechanic. They found the gearshift lever broke and was told that this problem is very common on these make and model cars. The mechanic said that average of 2 cars per week with the same problem.

Why is there NO recall or why aren't we reimbursed for the damage. I ended up paying $518 and 8 hrs of frustration plus had to go the next day to pick up the car. I found some recalls similar to these problems:

Recall ID # 08V583000 - POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:LEVER AND LINKAGE:COLUMN SHIFT - Get Details Recall Date: NOV 06, 2008 Component: POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:LEVER AND LINKAGE:COLUMN SHIFT Model Affected: CHARGER Potential Units Affected: 20283 Read more: http://www.motortrend.com/cars/2007/dodge/charger/recalls/index.html#ixzz0x07tpwlJ

But dealership says take it to the company. My car would not shift out of park tonight!! I tried everything and no luck. I finally called a towing company and had them tow my car to a dealership. I dont know how much it will cost, and want to know if anybody else was having this problem!! I've read other similar complains, and checked for recalls. There are a few recalls for this vehicle, but nothing about this your car being stuck in park!!

Charger 6 cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 32,000 miles

I could not get it out of park tonight not matter what I did! It was fine when I came home from work. Have had not time to do anything about it as I am working. Have recently heard some rumors of engine problems and such which cause some concern as I have a mandatory job in law enforcement. On top of that, last winter there was a bit of control in the snow too. Once I slid into a snow bank & took out my front bumpers, etc. So, recently I have been thinking about changing the type of car I drive and now this!

Anybody else have a problem with their gears???

I WENT TO THE MOVIES AND PARKED MY CAR AS USUAL. WHEN I CAME BACK THE CAR WOULD TURN ON AS USUAL BUT IT WAS STUCK IN PARK. I KNOW YOU HAVE TO STEP ON THE BRAKE PEDAL AND IT WILL UNLOCK, BUT IT DIDN'T WORK. I HAD TO GET IT TOWED TO A DEALERSHIP. I HAVE AN EXTENDED WARRANTY BUT IT DOESN'T COVER IT. THE GUY THAT CAME AND TOWED MY CAR TOLD ME THAT THE EXACT SAME THING HAPPENED TO HIS DODGE CHARGER. THE DEALER CALLS ME TODAY AND TELLS ME THAT IT'S GOING TO BE ABOUT 390.00 TO REPAIR. ARE YOU @!$%6 KIDDING ME!!! THIS IS VERY FRUSTRATING BECAUSE I DIDN'T EXPECT TO SPEND THIS MUCH MONEY ON SOMETHING I DIDN'T EVEN CAUSE.

The gears are locked in park. cannot shift gears. I am trying to find out if other 2007 DODGE CHARGER owners have experienced this problem. I have not contacted any dealers because everything was closed by the time I discovered this problem.
