Charger SE 2.7L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 200,000 miles

The engine is potentially blown due to water pump leaking into the timing belt compartment, causing oil sludge and several oil leaks. It's constantly over heating even after scheduled maintenance. I noticed water mixed with oil.

Charger Dark 5.7L Hemi

  • Automatic transmission
  • 100,000 miles

Look, I purchased my car with cash. I paid her off before she left the dealers. I love my car and if I had the money I would fix her. But I broke my back leaving me disabled for life. She is all I had. I even called CHRYSLER to see if they would reinstate my lifetime warranty. Because they had lost my information, I never got any of their letters informing me when she had any inspection. Even though she had only been to Cerritos Dodge may times. 3 times for overheating, 2 for the ignition hell in 2009. She was there for a week, something to do with the front end. I found out that they lost my info when I when there because I just got a letter regarding both of the airbags and the ignition recall. And they could not find me or her in there system. And they only fixed one airbag and the ignition. So there it is. I wish for a miracle every day but there isn't one. Thanks for listening.

Charger 3.5L Interference

  • Automatic transmission
  • 78,000 miles

I purchased a 2008 charger 3.5 v6, 78000 miles on engine when it died in the lowes parking lot. had it towed to chrysler/dodge stealership, and was informed that the engine was blown due to water pump leaking into the timing belt compartment . the dealership informed me that this is a common problem due to Normal wear and tear with chargers, and that the manufacturer is not going to pay anything to help. I have contacted a law firm that is chomping at the bit to file a class action law suit. they state this is a no brainer in the eyes of the law. anyone wishing to join class action, please make note on this site and we will get in touch with you. leave contact info.

Charger RT 5.7L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 111,000 miles

I purchased a 2008 Dodge Charger R/T Daytona in 2012, so this car was around 3-4yrs old 1 owner vehicle before myself. Maintenance was kept-up before myself verified through carfax, thats what made me choose this particular vehicle. It's also the reason I kept-up on the maintenance (very well documented) at the dodge dealership. My motor just completely goes out no warning, no reason just completely dies. I paid 8000 for a new motor from the dealership & Chrysler wouldn't help with 1 penny! I had an assistant manager at the dealership vouch for me & they still didn't assist in No Way. Im going to sale this crap car & never buy a dodge again .

engine failure engine failure engine failure engine failure engine failure

Can't belive an engine that gets the oil changed every 3 to 4 months failed. I have been with Dodge cars since 1992, with a new one every year until the 2008. Dodge said that the failure was probably oil sludge, it happens all the time with the 2.7 engine.

Never a Dodge again in my future.

Charger 2.7L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 90,000 miles

I was driving to work recently when the engine started making a loud noise, i was on the highway and suddenly i could only go about 40 mph in a 55 mph zone. It was obvious that something serious was wrong with the car so i pulled over, and the car just cut out. After sitting there a minute thinking, wtf, i turned the key, and it started, so i drove about a quarter mile up the road to a gas station. I had the car towed to a shop in town, after calling in to work. The mechanic called me the next day and said, he turned on the car, listened to it, and that my car blew a rod and will cost $5300.00 to put in a new motor. I've been borrowing my wife's and my son's car in the time being to get to work. After reading the reports about charger engines in especially the 2006 model year, i don't quite feel so bad. I thought maybe i had neglected some kind of maintenance or something, even though i get the car serviced regularly. Funny, I've never had any problems with any foreign made cars ive owned, only this dodge, and some fords in the past. its too bad, i love the look and feel of the car and planned on keeping it for a long time, its too bad the engines and who knows what else sucks #ang. I've got a great buddy at work hooking me up with a shade tree mechanic and looking for the short block of this model to replace. that plan, B, should lower the cost to around, $2,000.00 when i do get it fixed, ill probably unload it to some other fool, hey, guess where i learned that from? ironic how i just saw a charger the other day with a license plate that read, "Made with tools, not chopsticks" uh yeah.. about that..

Charger SE 3.5L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 39,000 miles

My car has 39000 miles on it. I was hearing a ticking noise coming from the engine. Took it to the dealer and they said upper intake manifold needed to be replaced. I asked what would cause this problem and was told maybe it was the way the car was driven.

That is ridiculous. This car has been adult driven since it was new. It’s been well maintained with routine oil changes using full synthetic oil. These types of problems should not be happening to a car with 39000 miles. I love the looks of the car but at this point I would be hesitant to recommend it.

Charger 3.2L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 99,000 miles

On April 26, 2008 I purchased a new Dodge Charger with a the Power Train warranty that was supposed to cover the motor and transmission. Furthermore the salesman persuaded me to purchase this vehicle because of the warranty. I originally wanted a used vehicle at a much cheaper price, but the warranty did not cover used vehicles, only brand new purchases were covered. I was not informed of any small print or negligence clause by the salesman. Now the motor has locked on the vehicle and the dealership is not honoring the warranty. I was informed by the service department that the they would not make any repairs to the vehicle and the damage is due to negligence. After complaining with the BBB I was contacted by the dealership and informed they would put a used motor in the vehicle for $4500 and it would not be covered under the warranty. I then contacted the manufacturer and was told that they would not repair the vehicle, so I asked for a refund on the warranty. I figure that is only right they are not going to fix the vehicle and just keep the money for the extended warranty. What type of business is that? At this date and time I am out of thousands of dollars and just having to accept the loss.

Im submitting this statement for everyone that has had the unfortunate pleasure of owning a Dodge vehicle.About a month and a half ago i ws driving on the freeway and my 2008 Dodge Charger just died on me.I had it towed to the dealership and they told me that i needed a new engine as a result of oil sludge buildup. I submitted all my maintenance records showing that i was getting my maintenance done and they came back denying my warranty claim.I feel like Chrysler is just a big rip-off with their warranties cause its funny the service lady told me that it was no oil showing on the dipstick and i had my mechanic to look at my car a day before ihad it towed to the dealership and it was 3qts in there so something sounds fishy to me. Ive been researching this issue and im not alone and they really need to check into this problem but its very convienent for them to deny havng to replace their defective engines.I have 2 Dodge Chargers and will be getting rid of both asap.
