Charger Rally 3.5L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 135,000 miles

I was told that Dodge/Chrysler knows that premature failure is common with Dodge Chargers that is why there are a load of them in the junkyards. Even with on time oil changes I was told they never really fixed the problem known for oil sludge & build up that locks the engines up. They knew these cars were hot sellers and it looks like they never cared to fix the problem totally. I was even told it would be useless to put another dodge engine in it (3.5L) because it would only do the same thing! Terrible.

Charger SXT 3.5L High Output

  • Automatic transmission
  • 72,000 miles

Prior to the major breakdown there was always a ticking sound in the engine that I was told was a bad lifter. I have heard this sound on many 2010 and prior year dodge chargers.

I was driving down a highway at 65MPH when I noticed a metal to metal grinding sound coming from the front of the car. As I pulled onto the shoulder every warning light on the dash lit up including ABS, ESP, the Engine Light...etc. Once I got onto the shoulder I shut the car down and popped the hood and found no exterior damage. When I attempted to start the car again there was a total power loss and nothing worked but the dome light. There was absolutely no power getting to the starter.

After having the car towed 600 miles to my home the car was taken into a shop. On a full battery charge the car would not start. It would only turn over if it was being jumped. When the car started it was clanking light metal wrenches and the shop suspected a failed water pump and or timing belt. After removal and replacement the car was started again and the same problem was occurring. It was later diagnoses that the engine suffered bent rods/pistons.

The car was sold to a dealer for $2000 and auctioned off to another deal in Lima, OH where it was listed for sale for $11,000. I was told that the engine needed to be replaced and the cost for a Jasper was listed at $5,500. God Speed for whoever has the car ( Vin: 2B3CA3CV4AH247782 )

Charger Hemi 5.7L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 123,000 miles

I bought this car brand new 3 miles.. only owner..and by the way.. it's only serviced strictly by the dealer.. after the 70,000 mile warranty. I've constantly had issues with maintenance even though I do all recommended services required.. I've had the water pump go out $1,600.00.. and most recently they're claiming it's the lifters in which took two weeks to diagnose quoted to be $2,900.00 to repair and I still don't believe it's the problem so I'm going to get a second opinion.. the car problem is when it get to 80 plus mph now the engine light comes on and feel like it want to cut off and shut down.. for this car to be this well maintained.. I find it ridiculous.. the funny thing is I had one service rep say well maybe I shouldn't drive that fast.. well if pay $40,000 for a hemi.. you expect it to be able to drive 80 mph without it shutting the hell off.. maybe they should just sell smaller version engines only.. and yes I believe the engines do have defects and they're not reporting it.. and I'm extremely upset!!

Charger RT 5.7L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 16,900 miles

I have a 2010 Charger R/T with 17K miles. It was in storage for 3 years and cranked up once a week. There was a 1/4 tank of gas in it. I filled it up once I received it last week and drove from Denver to Colorado Springs. Two days later while making a turn it stalled out in traffic. I drifted to the shoulder and it started just enough for me to get to a vacant lot. It sounded choppy and sputtered as if the injectors or fuel filter was clogged.

Had it towed to a Dodge Service Shop, had the fuel injectors system cleaned, a diagnostic (nothing showed up), differential, cooling system, transmission, power steering and brake flush as well as oil change. Spent $1368 with military discount. Technician notes said that he checked voltage from TIPM to pump. Cleaned gel from fuel rail and charged battery, vehicle fired up to specs. Battery may need to be replaced. I drove it for two days and it stalled again as I made a right turn, same sputtering and choppy idling. I sent a email to Dodge/Chrysler asking for some assistance in the matter or if there was something missing in the diagnostic process. Both times my family and I were in the car traveling...

Any ideas would be much appreciated?

Charger SE 2.7L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 49,000 miles

The vehicle was within the drive train warranty but it was not honored due to lack of service records.

Update from Dec 10, 2014: After paying 4200 out of pocket because they didn't honor the warranty at the first oil change a sister branch detected major leaks. They estimated 1900 to repair. We had to carry it back to the dealer that replaced the motor and they replace the main rear seal and oil pan gasket under warranty. Funny thing they covered my rental car with the drive train warranty that they wouldn't honor to replace the motor.

engine went out even though i had the oil changed regularly

I purchased my 2010 Dodge Charger in 2011. I paid $18000 cash for it. The engine went out in the car and now it needs a new engine. I had it towed to Chrysler Snethcamp in southfield, mi and they that I have to pay $124.00 dollars for it to be diagnosed. They called me the next day and said that they have to take the engine out and apart to see what caused the engine failure, but before they do that I have to pay them $1100.00. I explained to them that the car is under power train warranty and they agreed, but the fact still remains that I have to pay them $1100.00 before they will take the engine apart, and if they find that the engine failed because it's just defective then they will give me my money back and if they find that the engine fell because of negate then I'm out of $1100.00. I ask the service guy to have the owner of this establishment to give me a call and he said that he didn't know who the owner is. He said that he will have his supervisor give me a call but there is nothing that they can do for me. I said I don't have $1100.00 and If I did I will take it and get me an attorney first and I'm going to call the problem solvers news room to assist me, because this car is only 3 years old and should not be having this sort of problem. If anybody can offer any Assistance please help. I can be reached on Face Book my name is June Roney. Thank you
