There has been a recall on my alternator. However, before the recall, the alternator failed and caused me sudden stop almost resulting in accident. I had to pay out of pocket for repair, tow truck and lost work. I need to file a claim for recovery.

The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 14V634000 (electrical system); however, the part needed to do the repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

I was driving along fine going 35 miles per hour. Suddenly my vehicle begin to stall and start smelling something burning without any type of warning my car just went completely dead. Call toll truck he try to boost it off and he stated it had a dead charge. Had to assist tow truck driver to push car to be towed to nearest dealership. They had to change my alternator and battery and it took them until Sept 23, 2014 to return my vehicle. I am afraid of driving my vehicle to far because I do not know whether this with happen again without any warning or whether the problem is fix. It also turn out my vehicle was not on the recall due to different size alternator. I will be cautious where I will travel. The cost of replacing my alternator and battery was $1181.48. And also when I got my vehicle back from Dodge service department my review mirror on windshield was broken and damage had to file insurance claim to get that replace.

While im driving home around approx. 10:30 pm. I was going uphill on a bridge in a curve when my headlights went completely out on my vehicle causing me to crash to the opposite side of the bridge in the on-coming traffic lane. There also were a couple vehicles approaching a couple hundred yards away in front of me. So I had to stop my vehicle in the middle of the road. I had to leave my vehicle on the side of the road for the remainder of the night because my headlights didn't come back on at all. I really feared for my life that night.

The contact stated that while traveling approximately 60 mph, the vehicle suddenly decelerated to 25 mph or lower and made a loud noise when the accelerator pedal was depressed. The contact indicated that the ABS sensor, traction control sensor, the gauges illuminated before the instrument cluster shorted without warning. The contact indicated that as the vehicle reduced speed it stalled and was not able to restart. The vehicle was towed to an authorized dealer. The contact was included in recall NHTSA campaign id number: 14V634000 (electrical system). However, the parts needed were not available to repair the vehicle. The contact was waiting on a remedy from the manufacturer to determine when the dealer would repair the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 29,600.

My Charger completely shut off while I was driving and I was forced to glide to a stop in traffic. The dashboard, brakes, and steering all shut off at once. I was then unable to turn the car back on and forced to tow it out of traffic.

Sitting at a stop light, my dashboard flashed battery saver. I thought it was maybe my key fab since I wasn't having any other issues. When I got home, I tried to lock and set the alarm with the key fab and it wouldn't work. I tried locking my doors manually, and it wouldn't work that way either. Finally after several attempts (and thinking for sure it was the key fab) the car locked manually. My husband took the car out the next day to test it and heard a whining from under the hood and said battery saver was flashed on the screen as well, after he changed the key fab battery. He looked under the hood and said he thinks it is the alternator. Did some research the next day and found out there is a recall on alternator due to be announced on 11/29/14.

Mil light came on starting flashes lost power while I'm driving took it the dealership they can't find what's wrong... light will go away and come back repeat the same exact thing...both fog lights are completely out change the bulbs still out have to be wiring over heating.

While driving my 2011 Dodge Charger on the highway going about 55mph, I started to hear a whiny or hissing noise coming from under the hood I continued to drive to my destination and all of a sudden a battery saver mode light came on the brakes got really hard to control the car then it just shutoff. With the brakes being that hard to press to control the car it was very hard to try to pull over the side of the rode, I final got the car at a complete stop. I waited for a while car still wouldn't start so I had relative come remove the battery to have it checked at auto zone which they said the battery was good just need a charge, they charged the battery for me we got it back in the car the long enough for me to make it home. The next day went out to start the car still hearing the noise and the battery saver light was still on was able to drive to local part store they checked the alternator it was no good the guy told me the voltage that it was giving out my car was running only off battery so I had to rush back home before the car shutdown again in traffic which was dangerous to me and my unborn. I spoke with the dealership they told me sounds like my alternator is bad and to bring it in for them to check which is $97.99+ tax and total repairs would be around 600-$750 which is totally unaffordable. He also stated its a known issue by Chrysler and they will begin a recall and notify customers at the end of November but when I call Chrysler customer service they have no updates. This is the 2nd recall since I had this car I was thinking about the 2015model as my next car but the way things are going with Dodge I think not. I just want my vehicle repaired under the recall guidelines and wish they could start it a little sooner please!

While sitting in a parking lot my 2011 Dodge Charger battery light came on. I turned my vehicle off and tried to re-start it but nothing. I called aaa the technician tried to jump start it but my battery wouldn't take the charge. After testing the battery it was completely dead. He tested the alternator and said it was sending 344 amps through the battery. So $178 later he hooked up a new battery told me it will last till I get home but unhook it as soon as I get home..the next day I took it to my Dodge dealer where they determined and also informed me it was the alternator and Dodge was going to recall them soon, but it will not be covered till the recall was announced at the end of November 4 weeks. So I had to pay over $600 plus $178 for the battery. I asked if I would be reimbursed, they said I would have to take that up with customer support..very very upset..

Battery save mode alert came on then ABS light came on then vehicle completely died. Battery will recharge then completely drain after multiple attempts to start vehicle. Had battery checked & battery is still good.

The technician was unable to diagnose or duplicate the failure. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where the technician stated that the oil pump was fractured. The oil pump was replaced, and the dealer reprogrammed the computer system. The technician advised the contact to refrain from utilizing the features of the vehicle such as the A/C, radio, and bluetooth at the same time. In addition, the contact stated that while driving 10 mph, the engine stalled without warning and the vehicle started shaking violently. The vehicle failed to restart and was towed to another dealer for a diagnosis. The technician stated that the alternator needed to be replaced. The failure persisted. The manufacturer was notified of failure and VIN was not included in recall NHTSA campaign number: 14V634000 (electrical). The approximate failure mileage was 30,000.

I own a 2011 Dodge Charger and recently had to replace the alternator. The battery light suddenly appeared followed by the ABS and skid control lights. My vehicle shut down completely within a matter of minutes. I had no steering or brake capabilities. My repair cost to replace the alternator was $813.87. In addition to the alternator issue, my airbag light came on a week ago so I went online and discovered the airbag recall. Upon contacting Chrysler I was told my vehicle was not included in this recall although the Dodge dealership confirmed this to be the same issue /repair as stated in the recall (airbag wiring harness needs replacing).
