After driving at highway speeds approximately 75 mph for 2 hours plus when the car was stopped at an off ramp the transmission would not upshift beyond the lowest gear. The problem could be removed by shifting back to Neutral and then to Drive. The car was in motion and using that shifting technique is not recommended by Dodge. However, it could lead to a rear end collision if the following car doesn't realize my problem of not being able to exceed around 10 mph without over revving the engine. This may be due to overheating since it happened on a hot day. It can't be diagnosed as once the transmission is moved to Neutral there's no problem. To drive a car in this condition with extended miles to a repair facility might destroy the engine.
