When I first purchased this used 2012 Dodge Charger in 2014, the screen wasn't responsive so I returned it to the dealer and they replaced the unit.

A few times after that I had a similar problem where the touch screen wasn't responsive. The heated seats were selected using the screen but then couldn't be turned off since the touchscreen wasn't working. I had to pull over and turn off the car.

I found that if I remove the positive battery cable, open the doors to let the system drain of power and then reconnect - the radio would resort to the previous version (color blue) and then the screen would work again. After a while, the radio would upgrade itself to the latest version (color red) and then have issues with the touchscreen.

With the touchscreen being unresponsive, I can't use the features such as heated seats, any of climate control choices, change the radio controls, management menu, etc.

They should have included a software update that allows the touchscreen to be calibrated and also have a four position push-button menu like on a Nintendo joystick.

I have contacted both Chrysler and UConnect for support. They suggested that I either visit the dealer for a re-flash or download the file and install it using a 1.0 USB stick. I tried that and it didn't work.

I'm hearing that lots of other people are having problems with u-connect and are not satisfied.

I will be part of any Class-Action Lawsuit on this issue.

Update from Oct 11, 2018: July 2018 - I was able to fix the touchscreen myself.

Visit Factory Radio Parts and find the specific TFT Touchscreen that is related to your vehicle and order it.

After disassembling your dash to get the radio out, you need to remove the radio from the dash.

Remove the screws holding the unit together

Use a heat gun to soften the glue around the TFT Glass (be very careful not to break this or overheat the glass)

The screen may need to be adjusted for the touch to reach the button properly. I would suggest to install the TFT with tape around the outside edges so you can move the screen to the proper location after plugging in just the bare components.

When the TFT is in the correct spot, mark the sides with a line using a marker to help you identify where to position the screen for the next step.

Replace the TFT screen with the double sided tape ( you may need to purchase some before you start) making sure to line up the screen with the mark you made.

Close up the unit by putting everything back and screwing it together again.

Connect the radio back up to the dash panel and reinstall to the dash.

I get in the car Sunday morning 10/4. The touch screen is off and the heat is on. The defrosters to be exact. Anything that is controlled by the console is off... I called my mechanic and he looked up on his end what the issue could be and it is in the Dodge notes but I cannot find anything on the web. This happen previously before I had the recalls completed. When the recall for the alternator was done everything turned on and it was fine and I was hoping that it was taken care... a few months later it's back and I dropped it at the dealer this morning and I am waiting to hear what they have to say. I called Dodge and they said it is not covered and my warranty is up. I'm about to be screwed...
