Transmission having major trouble shifting between in to 3rd and 4th gear. Sometimes several seconds to engage between gears, causing the engine to rev very high and then slam in to gear. Car was brought in to the dealer, transmission was reset and retrained. Problem was not solved. Car brought back to dealer, transmission pulled out and dismantled with the aid of the head office engineering team. Cracked valve bodies found to be the cause of the issue, they were replaced. Problem was resolved
Update from Oct 7, 2015: One year after issue was "resolved" by replacing the valves in the transmission, the issue is back again. All the same symptoms, except with the added shuddering when slowing to a stop. The transmission doesn't seem to be disengaging properly.
Update from May 16, 2016: The programming for the transmission has been updated several times since I first experienced this problem, and the transmission is still having shifting problems. Nothing seems to fix it, and Dodge Canada is not very helpful about getting it fixed. Every time I send them a complaint about the issue, they tell me to talk to the Dealership, the Dealership tells me to talk to Dodge Canada because they won't let them fix it properly.

I bought the car brand new with 6 miles on it. Started having issues with it shifting from 1st to second about a month ago. The transmission doesn't shift when it should and runs the rpms up (no matter how slow I accelerate) and when it finally shifts, it slams into second and you can feel the dramatic transition. Down shifting from 2nd to 1st has a very noticeable hesitation and it seems like it can't find 1st and rocks the car back and forth sometimes after stopping.
I have also had issues with shifting from drive into park with the new gear shifter having a singular position. When I push the shifter all the way forward from drive it stops itself at revers and I have on many occasions almost backed into people and other cars because of this confusion.
I have screwed up and I'm stuck in this contract and have to deal with the mistake of buy this car. I DO NOT recommend anybody to buy the new Chargers unless you are prepared for the high possibility of being screwed over. Because no matter how long you own the car you will not get used to the car not shifting into park 9 times out of 10.

I purchased the car new, the transmission was fine at that time. I was told there was a software upgrade for the transmission upon servicing the car for the first time. Ever since the first transmission software upgrade, the transmission has not shifted correctly. When the vehicle came to a complete stop, there was a large jolt when the transmission downshifted to first - felt like I had just been rear-ended. Another software change made that issue better but then the transmission now often slips in first.
The transmission became very cold sensitive and will rev 300 to 500 rpm between shifts until the car warms up completely. It takes a good 30 minutes for the car to shift correctly. After 2 hours of highway driving, the transmission has slipped so much at a full stop that when I pushed down on the gas, the car did not move until it lurched forward so hard I thought it would break traction. The transmission makes a lot of noise when cold and when it warms there is a clicking noise, like a tick-tock of a clock.
Update from Feb 17, 2015: This is a daily issue. The car has been in and had 4 software alterations with no resolution. Dodge service has "reset" the transmission in an attempt to have it "relearn" how to shift. No resolution to date.
Update from Apr 1, 2015: After 5 visits to the Dodge Dealer where I purchased my charger, Dodge customer care setup an appointment for me to take my car to another Dodge dealer about 45 minutes from my home. I took my car in and the shifting problems were confirmed. Note, the dealer where I bought my car had worked on the transmission 5 times and kept telling it that is was working according to specifications. That's nonsense! I know Dodge could never sell a car that shifted that way on purpose as No One would ever buy it! Regardless, the competing Dodge dealer did find that the transmission was not working correctly and replaced the transmission. Of course it did take over two weeks as there was a "shortage" of transmissions and one had to be located and shipped. A shortage of transmissions! Must be there are a lot of transmissions requiring replacement. Apparently these transmissions are too complex to rebuild locally and require replacement. Long story short, the transmission is now working properly. Don't ever let the dealership tell you things are working within specifications when there is a problem. Just because there little computer would not "report" a problem doesn't mean the problem doesn't exist. So far so good with the replacement transmission. I hope this one doesn't fail.

Car is shifting whenever it feels like it...RPMs jump up when your foot is not on the accelerator. Clunks when you shift in reverse. Car jerks when shifting. Going 30 mph and it drags and sounds like it is in way too high of a gear. Took it in...said something was wrong with 7th and reset control panel. Still not working. Runs like it has 200,000 miles on it

The car currently has 5,000 miles on it. Ever since the car was new, when I cruise around the speed of a shift point, the car will upshift, downshift, upshift etc. Or usually it will perform like it needs to shift, but almost die.
Also, I live off of a street with a speed limit of 30mph. So, I always set my cruise control to 30. What will happen is, the car's RPMs will drop as if it is about to downshift. However, the RPMs will suddenly jump by about 1,000 RPMs. This happens 100% of the time, every single day.
This will also happen if I put the transmission in manual shift mode. The RPMs will drop like it's about to die, then suddenly jump.
Finally, one day the car died or misfired for like a split second (when the RPMs dipped after failing to shift) & the check engine light came on.
Unfortunately, when I took it to the dealership, they simply cleared the code & refused to tell me what it was. I should've plugged an engine scanner into it myself & got the code. They would only tell me there was an update & that's why the check engine light came on.
Now, the car continues to have the same shifting problems every single day, 100% of the time & never goes away.
Update from Mar 13, 2015: Now, my car is at 9,000 miles. My shifting problems have gone away seemingly 100%. I believe my transmission was just breaking in. It basically cleared up overnight, at around 6,500 miles.
It does downshift very hard at times, as if there is a serious rev-matching design flaw.
Also, if I park on an incline or decline, I have to set the parking brake before taking it out of Drive. If I don't, it'll shift back out of Park extremely hard.

THE TRANSMISSION WILL HANG IN 2ND OR 3RD GEAR FOR LONG PERIODS OF TIME, CANNOT MAKE TRANSMISSION UPSHIFT. AFTER A LONG WHILE IT SHIFTS.
