Charger Road And Track 5.7L

  • Automatic transmission

My 2016 Dodge Charger RT started "flare shifting" from first to second when it was cold. Only did it once or twice, when cold, so no big deal. I took it to Dodge as it is still under warranty. They said it missed a TCM software update, so they did it. Now, it still does the "flare shift" but has new and very annoying attributes! When you are slowing to stop, it does not downshift quick enough and ends up in 2nd or 3rd gear, after stopping, causing it to have to downshift multiple times, before moving.

I consulted our local transmission builder who said it is actually doing exactly what the new software is designed to do, which, among other things, locks up the converted at VERY low speeds and stays locked (90% plus) full time! It even does it in "Sports mode" (nothing sporty about that) and does not allow you to use the stall from the converter for performance gains. Help???!!!
