The car had rattle in the front end shortly after taking delivery. The noise appeared driving over rough roads and and while entering or departing drive ways. At higher speeds when the suspension had load, the noise was not detectable.
The vehicle was inspected and returned to owner during the first work order, and eventually driving back for further examination under a second work order. During the second shop visit the dealership used digital ears and isolated the noise to left front suspension. The dealer replaced the strut mount, suspension strut, upper and lower control arms and tension strut one by one on the drivers side to eliminate the noise. After failing to eliminate the noise, FCA advised the dealer to start over replacing components one by one. The dealer replaced the Strut Mount a second time and that eliminated the rattle.
The dealer was very cooperative in this repair. However, the fact that the original part and the OEM replacement part was defective is concerning. Had this repair not been under warranty, all of the parts replaced the first time would retail for $1000 plus labor cost - - - all for a part (Strut Mount) that cost $60.
Fortunately, FCA absorbed the total cost under warranty.
