My husband and I decided to spring for our very first "new used" vehicle from a Dodge dealership thinking it would be a much more reliable vehicle than the used ones we had. HA! HA! First problem we had was about 3 months after we had bought the vehicle and there was a clunking noise in the front end when we took it to the dealership for the repair everything seemed fine. We got the truck back and in a few weeks the same problem was back, after dealing with this issue several times we took it our own mechanic who told us it was the ball joints and they needed replaced. We ended up changing them at least three times and fought a lot with the dealership. Finally they were recalled and changed. We also have an ongoing problem with occasionally when you apply the brakes it does a very abrupt downshift when I took it to the dealership for that i was told, "It needs to learn how you drive." Since 2001 we have had a new engine put in, we had the 4 wheel drive fixed, electrical relay problem fixed (twice), and currently the transmission is having a problem. I have had my share of used vehicles and never had so many problems!!!!! We have almost rebuilt this vehicle and spent as much fixing it as we did to purchase it. I would also like to say we never put a hitch on this vehicle because if the problems it had, so it was never used for pulling anything and it's never been off road. My point is it has never been abused to even help cause any of these problems. In the dealerships defense when I took copies of my bills to show them everything I had done to the truck they offered to SELL me another one and take my truck as a trade in, needless to say I declined. I am so disappointed with my Dodge Dakota I would never purchase another one.
