Dakota SLT 4.7L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 95,000 miles

My 2001 Dodge Dakota Quad Cab, had multiple problems with mechanical parts breaking and wearing out prematurely, from radiators to water pumps , alternators and power steering pumps. But the Biggest surprise was at 90,000 the front end started squeaking. by 95,000 the problem was unbearable. The dealership who sold me the truck told me The truck was out of warranty and wanted to charge me over $1,900.00 for the replacement of the bushings, and tie rods and front end. Then I found a card in my wallet that I bought a 100,000 mile extended warranty. They never looked it up on all the other repairs that were needed in the past. But I had Chryslers warranty fix this repair the first time. Then at 1690,000. the front end went out again needing all new tie rods, bushings and front end. It cost $1,400 to fix at a mechanics shop (not the dealer.)

3 years in a row now I'm having to replace the ball joints on this vehicle. When the ball joints go, the tires go off kilter and wear out on the insides, so I have to replace the tires as well. Sigh... not able to afford this on my current salary.
