We have had this vehicle for 3 months now and since day one its been acting up, I was a dodge lover and now I really regret buying this POS. No one seems to know what the problem is and im tired of spending more money to attempt to get it fixed.

carbon buildup on valves
Bought a used 2005 Dakota, 4.7L engine. Shortly there after the check engine light came on, with a code of P300 random misfire. Took it to Carson City Nevada Dodge 6 times, spending approx. $2500 with their fixes for the problem. None worked. Took it to an independent repair shop who try a few things with negative results. TSB stated when all else failed, pull the heads and check for carbon build up. This was done and carbon build up was found. Engine being put back together so not sure if problem is solved. Chrysler denies and responsibility, along with and extended warranty company which claims carbon build up is not a "mechanical failure."

The check engine light came on just before a trip to TN. When I got to TN I took it to a local garage that works on 2005 Dakotas. They put in 8 new platinum plugs and de-carbonized the engine. ($260.00) the light came back on a day later. I drove back to FL and took it to my regular auto repair shop. They replaced the platinum plugs with copper core plugs and replaced #1 and #7 coil blocks.($557.33) The light came back on hours later. I then took it to the Dodge dealership in Ocala, FL and they replaced a burned gasket in the exhaust tube. ($244.28) The check engine light came on 24 hrs later. When will this end? The truck has been great up to this point. If it would stay fixed, I'd drive it until the wheels fall off. Now I just want to set it on fire inside the dealership!
