I have always been a Dodge guy. This is the first newer truck that I have bought. It was a one owner with 65,000 miles on it when I bought it. My wife and I were very excited about the purchase. One year after purchase, the transmission started acting up. It only has drive even when yit is downshifted into a lower gear most of the time. When this happens, the transmission overheating light is on even if hasn't been driven in days. Other times you get in it and start it up and it shifts great like it is supposed to.?.. Also it developed a really annoying squeaking in the front end about 2 years ago. I thought it was struts, but no. We think it is the rubber bushings. I contacted the 1800 number for dodge to talk to someone about these issues because I do not have the money to just start replacing and fixing everything until I figure out what is causing these issues, but no one would talk to me because my truck is not under warranty! REALLY?

The upper and lower ball joints on the Dakota are particularly bad. All of them needed replaced when I got the vehicle.
