This problem may be covered under warranty. Ask your Dodge dealer.
We have had this vehicle for 3 months now and since day one its been acting up, I was a dodge lover and now I really regret buying this POS. No one seems to know what the problem is and im tired of spending more money to attempt to get it fixed.

My understanding is the transmissions is made in the Mexico plant, had material issues with the adhesives’ used in the transmissions. This is a material/design issue and needs to be rectified with a recall. The transmissions need replacement WAY too early in the life of the vehicle. I WANT reimbursement for use of inferior materials and lack of quality control. Give a 10 year warranty with each new vehicle like so many other companies do, if you did, this would be a non-issue.
AND BRING the jobs back to America. Fed up American citizen.
Update from Sep 3, 2013: Used transmission has been in vehicle since October 2012, I baby the transmission, but I feel it slipping, just a matter of time before this one goes also.
Is there a recall yet for inferior materials used on transmission?
Concerned that no one cares any longer about quality control or product integrity.....

This really sucks I moved the truck over too my neighbors drive so I could trim along mine, it shifted really stiff , I parked it. When I went to move it back the shifter cable broke. I removed and replaced the cable, but it won't shift. I checked the mechanism on the transmission it's self and it won't budge. I checked with a local transmission shop, that has a free online diagnosis, they actually called me at work to get a better explanation of the problem ,and the told me I would have to bring it in so the could see for themselves.Until the they can't even give me a actual quote. but it could be between $500.00 to$1800.00. In the mean time I had too pull the drive shaft and push it home.

Bought Dakota on 11/29/11 and had it for 2 weeks when it started shifting really rough. Check engine light came on and then truck would not come out of 1st gear. Took it to shop. Shop has replaced Valve pump, Valve assembly and torque converter circuit. After each thing was replaced the transmission still shifted rough and check engine light comes back on. Mechanic found a transmission that the warranty company would cover. Put it in drove it 150 miles, transmission slipped several times and check engine back on and truck will not shift into drive. Can somebody please help me out. I am going to take it to another mechanic cause this one has had it since 12/22/11. I have had it maybe 6 days out of that time. Very disappointed cause I paid alot and the truck is sharp except for the transmission problems.

3 to 4 times a week starts out in very low low gear 1/4 mile. I have taken truck back several times they always say they can't duplicate problem its there right now maybe it will happen this timed. Local Dodge dealer said they needed to change fluid and screen they charged me for it but no help. Its still under warranty only 36k maybe they will find it when the warranty is gone.

Ok... Got this dodge, "convinced to get" after returning from afghanistan in 2004 - 2005; I noticed a slight slip in tranny back around 30k miles... But being in the marines I never had time to see to it getting fixed, so I kept going, it did its business...
I converted it to a work truck, carrying ladders, dish network equipment... seems it takes forever for the engine to push the truck to 30 mph, after that seems like it can catch up.. but.. lately it wont change passed 45mph, riding up to 3500 to 4000 rpM!!
resetting the power will reset this.. so... is it a transmission problem or a computer problem?? or maybe a speed sensor, whatever it is.. its caused me to miss 5 weeks of work, so I have to double ride to make a living, which is not working to well
never again will I purchase a DODGE anything!!!, I cant wait to sell this POS. I still haven't found a resolution if anyone has any ideas... dont hesitate

After truck sits for a day or two, when started up the engine races then calms down, when you put it in reverse and back up the engine races and truck hardy moves, then you put in in drive and it still races up to 3000rmp at least, from anywhere from 15-55-sec.Dodge won't fix it until I can duplicate in front of them or a code is found.I have been told that the fluid is leaking down ,bad seal or split filter on the cooling return line,I guess that there going to wate until trany blows up or somebody gets killed.I have 7-7000 drivetrain warranty and only about 17,000 miles on the truck, then they will say its my fault, dodge is trying to get out of all old warranties as far as I'm concerned and blame the customer.

For about 2 weeks the service 4WD light has been coming on when I would hit a bump and then go off when I hit another bump. Then after shutting the truck off and key out of the ignition you could hear the truck trying to shift into 4WD. On Saturday, June 11, 2016 as I was pulling into my driveway, the truck shifted into 4 LO on it's own, locking up the wheels. I shifted into reverse and the truck shifted back into 2 WD. After parking it in the driveway and shutting it off you could hear the truck trying to shift into 4WD. I immediately started searching the internet on how to fix this issue. I have read hundreds of complaints for this issue and no one seems to be able to fix it. One fix I did read said to push in the button beside the N on the 4WD switch. I have done this and the truck ran fine for about 1/2 a day. Monday, June 13, 2016 as I stopped at my mail box the service 4WD light came on, I could hear the truck trying to shift into 4 LO, and the 4 LO light flashed several times on the dash. Dodge really needs to address this issue, because I don't want to be doing 70 and have the truck shift into 4WD like some of the others have complained about. Come on Dodge step up and do the right thing! If anyone has had this fixed I would really like to hear how. Thank you.
