We bought this vehicle two years ago and it had 32,000 miles on it. About a month ago the engine light began to come on and off. We are going to take it on a long trip so we decided to have it checked out. We told the mechanic to give it a good going over. When he brought it back he gave us a bill for 220.00 and an oxygen sensor part and said this was the engine light problem. He then explained that the oil pan was rotted out and needed to be replaced. We thought well it's just and oil pan it can't be that big a deal. We bought the truck used at a dealer in Newberry, Mich. and at first we thought we would contact them to see if they would help us, we have only put 28,000 miles on this vehicle in two years, it is kept in a garage and is well taken care of. First thing they said is, "oh ya these vehicles are noted for this, that Ford's are even worse". We didn't have any idea at this time the cost of this job and when the garage we bought it from said 700.00 with 10% off because we bought it there, we were shocked and very frustrated. This truck has 60,000 miles on it and looks like it was just taken off the show room floor and to have to put this kind of money in to repairs already seems very irresponsible on someones part for putting out an inferior product and to further note that they know it's a problem and have done nothing to rectify it is very frustrating. At this point our mechanic said he would do the job for $462.00 which is much better than the dealer, but it's still the point that the truck should not need to have this kind of work done on it.
