No more than 2 weeks later the hose blew again, this time I took it to the dealership and they fixed it all under warranty. I was so irate that I had a few choice words to say to the service rep. They got it all fixed up and it was good to go. Happy New Year you filthy animal

Shortly before Christmas, I got home from Christmas Shopping and parked my truck. When I went to get into it again and leave, I heard the ominous sound of the power steering pump deprived of oil. A awful grinding sound along with a whining sound. I went down to Dodge and bought another power steering hose, and changed it myself. 2 hours later in minus 30 weather it was all fixed and good to go

This time I was getting angry. It didn't cost me anything to have it fixed, but it was blowing so frequently I contemplated just driving it without it. How bad could it really be? This time they pressure tested the line at the Chrysler dealership, and they found out that the power steering cooling line infront of the radiator was causing very high pressure build up on the return side. The easy fix was to omit the cooler line and just run it from the pump to the gear and back. If you are experiencing this problem, simply omit the cooler line and plug it off, it's nothing but a headache. Why do you even need a cooler line for power steering?

In the middle of a Canadian Winter, my low pressure power steering hose blew. I went to the dealership and bought a replacement one for around $40. It took a while to get it off because the hose is hooked up way underneath the skid plate and flywheel assembly. Reaching through the back and trying to glance in a 1/2 inch spot I managed to get the old one off and the new one on. The hose blew the following week again, so I went to a hose place and got a hose made that can withstand high PSI, got them to crimp on similar fitting and the hose cost me again around $40. The hose hasn't caused me any problems since.
