Dakota 4.7L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 45,600 miles

I had the ball joints fixed at $600. But the trans is still in question. The computer had no codes so the dealer

could not do anything. Will have to take it back if it happens again.

Dakota SLT 3.6L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 40,000 miles

We purchased the vehicle in 2007 and added the "Bumper-to-Bumper" lifetime warranty. I brought my truck in for an oil change and they said my lower ball joints were bad. The vehicle had approximately 35k miles. When I asked if it was covered by my warranty they said it wasn't. Ball joints should not fail this soon, nor even with twice the miles. I drive on paved roads in good condition, nothing to cause a good ball joint fail.

I'd like to have the dealership replace them but I'm afraid of the quality of the ball joint the dealership will use. I'll probably do the replacement myself, with a known quality manufacturer, since it's not covered under my warranty.

Here I am again saying more about dodge. I have pics of the problems with the lower ball joints - they have to be replaced every three weeks and chrysler say's that there is nothing wrong with them.
