Lower radiator support frame has rusted thru on both sides. Rusting was hidden rubber cladding until it was beyond prevention or maintenance. First noticed on a 2003 model that was so bad fan was hitting frame. Checked mine & several others from 2003 to 2008 and all had severe rust. Have heard of others where mount failed. The rest of the frame is in good condition. The body has only minor rear wheel well corrosion.
Suggest any one with Dakota closely examine area where hood bumpers stub out- before they fall out.

Last year 2015 at the begining of April I noticed that the top of my rear fender's on my truck that the paint started to bubble so I wrote Mopar a letter stating that I was very unhappy about having a vehicle that was only 7 years old and that I keep very clean and take care of cause I would like to keep it for a long time was rusting out. They called me and gave me a claim number which I took to the dealer to have them take pictures and put a claim in for the rust problem. Needless to say that I never heard back from the dealer so I called them 5 times over the next 5 months and they said that the first claim was denied and that it is normal for that to happen so they are puting another claim in. I never heard for them again and frankly I'm tired of calling them so they can lie to me about the whole situation. I've notice that a lot of Dodge trucks and not just the Dakota's are rusting out in the same spot. I just wish they would make good on a bad thing, but I'm sure they won't. I've owned 5 brand new Mopar vehicles since 1994, which includes my wife's Jeep's. I will never buy another Dodge / Ram truck just cause I've been duped by a company who I though I could trust to make a quality product and stand behind it. My 1996 Dakota I had before this one. I owned that for 12 years and didn't have a spot of rust on it. I guess today is about profit and quality takes a back seat.
