problem #1

Nov 152013

Dart SXT Multiair Turbo 1.4L

  • Manual transmission
  • 8,500 miles

In November of 2013, I traded in a 2007 Honda Civic EX 2-door on a 2013 Dodge Dart purchased from an unnamed dealership located in High Point, NC. When I first purchased the vehicle, the steering wheel was off centered to the left and the car was put back into the shop to get the issue resolved. To skip ahead in time up until this point, I am still having this issue and I've had the car now for over a year. At this point, my steering wheel is off center to the left and my alignment still feels unsure of what it wants to do. I can let go of the wheel, the cars projects to the right and I would have to grab the wheel and being it was off-centered, this does affect driving characteristics in which technicians don't believe when they always say nothing is wrong!

Now, up to date, I have been to several Dodge dealerships to try to get the issue resolved around my local area and also out of town. Once they complete the job, they would say the problem is resolved and once I leave the dealership, I still have the same issue and even still, twice, my steering wheel was either still off centered to the left or off to the right. They would tell me that this may be due to:

1. worn tires. 2. uneven road. 3. something other than them telling me what the real problem is, meaning the technician didn't fix it.

At this point, my issue is still unresolved!! To proceed on, I was taking my car into service while it was still under warranty and contrary to any belief, I began paying for the four wheel alignments while still under warranty because I was taking it back so many times. I also took my car in for service to a local ford dealership once and when they put it on the alignment machine, they told me that they couldn't proceed with the alignment because their machine wasn't reading properly or the last person who did the alignment did something totally wrong. Alignments for that car can range anywhere from $69.99-$109.99 for all four wheels based on where you go.

I also did some research on four wheel alignments at other car places and on their website, it would state that if your steering wheel is off centered, this means it's due to poor alignment practices. In this case, why don't all technicians know that when a steering wheel is off centered, they should know this is due to a bad alignment. Now, another instance when I had the alignment done, I got the car back with the steering wheel to the right and when I went back to speak with the technician, he told me he couldn't find anything wrong due to the car was driving in a straight direction. My steering wheel was off centered to the right and he said nothing was wrong??????? I'm confused.

An off centered steering wheel means nothing is wrong? I thought that a centered steering wheel and your car going in a straight direction when you let go of the wheel meant nothing is wrong. How do I know this and I'm not even a technician?????? Exactly!

This isn't rocket science. These companies have refused to fix my issue while under warranty and also when I began to pay for the service while under warranty. This is the truth people. I have been through a entire set of new tires when I purchased the car with right over 8,000 miles and at this point, I have four new tires. Two were purchased in Gainesville GA at Discount Tire (under 30,000 on my car) and the other two from Discount Tire in High Point, NC with under 36,000 miles. I shouldn't have went through those tires that soon unless there has been poor alignment practices.

Along with the issue with the alignment which is still happening, my steering wheel gets really stiff like it wants to lock and when I took it in for that, they said "oh, that's just the type of steering the car has" and nothing was done. So, question..... Is a semi-locking steering wheel normal? I don't think so.

Other issues include a thump under the car in which I can't determine in which does sound like the engine, my HID headlight when out, gauges on the dashboard malfunctioned, issues with the Bluetooth, lights didn't blink when pressed unlock and lock on the key fob, the transmission doesn't want to go into gear sometimes (6 speed manual), and the fuel door stuck when there is very cold temperatures (poor design).

Guys and gals, I have been trying to trade this car in within 6 months of purchasing it and I wish I never bought it. This car has mostly been documented in the system for alignment issues and if you try to take a car into service and doesn't have proof this is happening, they will not even take your car into service. this has happened to me.

I was contacted by an attorney recently concerning legal services being that a large number of consumers have been having issues with this same car. I will be contacting this attorney to see what I will need to do to get what I am owed and I suggest you all to do the same. This is the only way that we all can get something done and that is to stick together regardless of who you are. I wanted to speak out on this because I am tired of the BULLSHIT! Even what I wrote here today, will be noticed. Thanks all Dodge Dart owners and I wish the best for you all!!
