transmission hose clip broke off

My car just stopped, no check engine lights, nothing until it happened. Had to have my car towed to the shop. Found out all that was wrong was the clip that holds the Transmission line was missing. Shop contacted Dodge to see if they could just buy the clip. They would not sell the part. The only way to get the clip was to buy the whole transmission part for $1,800. This is like a $3.00 part that should have only cost me a few hundred dollars to fix instead I have to pay $2,400 for part and labor. This is the most messed up thing I have ever heard. We went to every parts store we could every dealership in the area trying to get the part.I even tried to see if I could have one custom made and that would have been $325.00 for 1 part and taken about 4 weeks to make.
