Durango SLT 5.2L V8

The heater just steams up the windshield, even when turned off. Additionally, the radiator coolant is leaking into the cabin.

problem #1

Durango SLT 5.2L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 100,000 miles

  1. 30,000 miles. Engine hesitated and bogged down. Cause- Head gasket went out. Cost-Luckily still under warranty.

    2. 58,000 miles. Front end made a loud bang while backing up. Cause-Upper control arm allignmet bolts not secured properly due to shabby engineering design (design allowed adjustment shim/nut to rotate, causing the nut to rest on control arm instead of bolt, after a while the nut rotated and slammed into the seated position, thus the loud bang.

    3. 78,000 miles. Upper and lower ball joints bad, cannot allign wheels. Fix=Replace with "lifetime warrantied" ball joints, they will go out again, bad front end design (about $80 to replace yourself, otherwise $500 parts and labor)

    4. 120,000 miles. Engine shook loudly during start-up. Cause-Clutch fan faulty. $75

    5. 125,000 miles. Engine would not shift properly into 2nd gear. Cause-Bands needed adjustment. DIY if you can, otherwise tranny shops will try and charge you $1,500 for a new tranny.

    6. 128,000 miles. A/C compressor went out and Evaporator started leaking. Looking at $250 for compressor and $145 for evaporator. DIY yourself if you have the time and patience, otherwise looking @ $900+ for parts and labor.
