Steel Brake lines burst. The Steel lines are all rusted and corroded. Even the factory replacement pieces corroded again. This happened 2 times and even when I replaced them with original factory pieces, it happened again.this can't be a coincidence.

Just bought this vehicle, the ABS and brake light is on, contacted seller and he stated it was not on when he sold it to me. I took to auto zone for them to run the needed scan on it. It showed rear wheel sensor. So, I took it to my mechanic. He then ran 3 different code scans on it and it came up with nothing. So, unfortunately he can't fix it without a code. Unless I want to thro more money into it just to start replace ikng things that maybe may not be the problem. Now the check engine light is on. Upon reading others with the same problem, I feel there is a faulty something in there that needs to be figured out and recalled. I pray to god, my brakes dont go out while I am driving with my kids in the vehicle. I am a single parent and cannot afford to just go out and buy another vehicle. Figure out the problem and get it recalled and fixed, please!

4 times in the last two weeks while driving in heavy city traffic in the los angeles, ca area the engine turned off, without warning, warning lights, or warning sounds. All guages went to zero. There was no abnormal function of the vehicle before each incident. Power assist to steering and brakes were also lost. Each time it was in dry, sunny weather with the temperature between 60 and 80 degrees Fahrenheit. Each time I was able to coast to a curb or physically push the vehicle out of traffic. Each time, except one, the engine would not start immediately afterward. The engine would turn over briskly but would not start. After 4 to 6 attempts the car would start normally and then run normally as if nothing had ever happened. Each time the gasoline tank was at least one quarter full. Two additional times in the last two months the engine shut off while driving and then almost immediately turned back on again. The transmission was completely rebuilt 5 months ago. This had the potential to cause a crash but did not in each of the instances.

ABS parking brake light on. No code comes through scanner. Transmission drags and shifts improperly throughout. During slippery snow conditions not able to brake with ABS is very dangerous for my family and others on the road. There are many reviews regarding this issue with the Dodge Durango and this should be a very important matter due to all the Dodge durangoso on the road. I have been to a couple mechanics that don't exactly know what the actual problem is and that is not ok. Safety first!

ABS & brake lights illuminated and speedometer works sporadically - I just purchased my vehicle but was told by previous owner that the ABS & brake lights have been on for some time and a continuous problem. Both the ABS & brake lights are illuminated and the speedometer works sporadically. After searching the internet for repair options, I have found that several thousand people have the same issue. I am told it is one of two issues: Wheel and/or transmission sensors and/or ABS control module. I feel this should be a recall by daimler Chrysler as there are way too many complaints & issues with the same thing.

I was driving about 25 miles per hour and everything on the system stopped. The steering stopped working, the brakes stopped working and the car turned off. It tends to happen on bumpy roads. This has happened multiple times in my 1999 Dodge Durango during the past year. I think it might be related to the ignition problem affecting other Chrysler products. The Durango was not involved in that recall, but it seems as though this is exactly what happens with my truck.

The brake caliper bolts pull out of the spindle. When driving down the road there was a grinding sound coming from the front wheel, upon further inspection I found that the pins holding the caliper on the spindle has pulled the threads out. After replacing it with an oversize caliper pin the threads pulled again.

Electrical problem just shuts the whole electrical system down "while I'm driving", at any speed...doesn't matter the temperature, it happens on any day, and at random. Major safety issue, brakes and steering become unusable. Just missed rear ending a vehicle the other day which got me to have to write this. I have to remove electrical terminal from post for 30 seconds, put back on terminal post, then hopefully it starts. I cant even drive my family anymore due to safety hazard.it has happened at least thirty times now. Local Dodge dealer says they have no idea whats the matter, yet hundreds of owners online postings prove what I am saying. Please resolve this before someone, perhaps myself, dies.....

The contact owns a 1999 Dodge Durango. The contact stated that while traveling 3 mph he attempted to apply the brakes but to no avail. The contact then crashed into another vehicle. The vehicle was towed to a private mechanic where it was confirmed that the brake lines had failed. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure and current mileage was unavailable.

On multiple occasions, beginning two months after we bought the vehicle (used), engine would die for no reason. Loss of power steering and power brakes. Would turn over, but not restart. After waiting between 10-30 minutes, vehicle would restart. Happens at slow speeds, medium speeds and expressway speeds. Inconvenient at slow speeds, very dangerous at highway speeds. Sounds similar to other complaints regarding cpu/cpm overheating. Dodge needs to recall this before someone gets killed!

I bought a 1999 Dodge Durango slt 5.2 ltr engine as of 3 to 4 yrs ago, and in some cases like mine, it absolutely does mean it can be an absolutely unreliable & absolute dangerous vehicle!!!!!..everything that can happen, has happened to this vehicle. Engine stalls out, the front differential exploded on the highway 4 miles after I had to put in 4 wheel drive & almost caused me to wreck, I had to replace the whole front differential axles.. the back (rear) breaks have never worked since I bought the thing, the exhaust manifolds got so hot that the bolts that connect it to the manifold pipes burned off and is now, and has been sitting for a month since I can't keep it together. Right now all three of my front brake lines have rotted into, at the connector from the master cylinder that sends the fluid to the front 2 wheels!!.. that's just the start of all of the terrible danger that it poses to me and other drivers on the road. This vehicle should be considered a complete recall of the 1999 Dodge Durango slt. The Dodge manufacture should not get by with this. Its almost like selling a device to get hurt in. I paid over $4,000 for this Durango, just to spend that much more money and the chance of getting hurt or worse while having it rebuilt where it is suppose to be safe.....other things that have stopped working also.. motor oil & transmission leaks & slips, windows (2 of them) have stopped working up & down, glove box latch broke, ash tray broke off, rear hatch will not open, hatch wiper shorted out, front end tires spraddle out like they are going 2 different directions, the paint finish has completely faded from the hood & starting in other places, starter solenoid clicks 10 to 30 times before it will crank the engine...there is more also!.. this is not a safe vehicle!! I have never had trouble like this with any other automobile in all of my 45 driving years.
