This is the second time I've had the water pump replaced in less than three years. I bought it with over 75k miles. Water Pump froze, threw the belt & instantly overheated car. Pulled over within seconds & had it fixed. That was July 2004. The other day wife called me stranded on highway. I got there & poured a gallon of anti-freeze in. Still hot. Added a 2nd gallon. Ran fine for 3 days. Pulled a half-filled uhaul & it overheated again. Ended up adding 2 gallons more. Few more miles & had to added two gallons of water. Mechanic said these things happen on Dodges with V8. Says belt is too tight and wears out bearings causing the leak.

one of several problems since I bought the vehicle new. The fuel gauge quit at 5000 miles. The repair would have been too traumatic, so I never had it fixed. At 114000 miles, I sort of expect a failure of some kind, so the water pump doesn't worry me yet. Overall, I like the vehicle.

Truck will lose coolant, maybe a pint a day for 3 or 4 days, then stops. No signs of leaks, underbody is dry after driving. Six months or a year later it goes through another cycle. Been doing this for 4 years.
