Premature wear of upper control arms, bushings and balljoints and lower control arm bushings on my 1999 Dodge Durango at 77,000 miles. Squeak was identified as the above problem by a technician named bill blackwood at allen samuels Dodge in fort worth, Texas on 12/14/04. The cost of repairs was said to be $2,312.54 (an unreasonable amount!). the service representative, Mr. Terry weber, admitted a problem with these parts, but siad the new recall only goes back to the 2000 models. I believe it shoud be extended to at least include the 1999 models asap.

Front end of my 1999 Durango, which only has 71,862 miles, is making a clunking noise when turning corners or going through dips in the road. I checked the frontend if the vehicle while on a jack and found that the left front wheel assembly - possibly the ball joints - moved damatically compared the the right side. I feel that there is a potential problem that the front end assembly my break off if the right set of circumstances occur. I read today that duragno's from 2000-2004 are being recalled for the same type of problem with the front end. O you think that my vehicle should be covered for repair under a factory defect also? this vehicle does not have.

I just had all 4 ball joints in my 1999 Dodge Durango replaced. I only know 2 other people that own this vehichle and they have both had to replace the same parts long before you should need to.

Had to replace control arms/ball joints on 1999 Dodge Durango on a vehicle with less than 85000 miles. Cost ~$2,000.

Had to replace both upper and lower ball joints on my 1999 Dodge Durango along with worn out tie rods on both sides. The truck ate through my tires in less then 26,000 miles and when I went to get an alignment done they told me not to drive the vehicle until the repair has been replaced. This was my family vehicle with two kids and my wife who typically drives it. Know after 909 dollars for the repair I saw a report on cbs concerning this issue. I want to know how to get involved with this suit. This is not acceptable from my professional opinion.

PE 03-032. Front suspension upper ball joint failure. Two sets of upper ball joints were replaced due to premature wear. When the vehicle was at the dealer for the first repair, they replaced the lower control arm and not the lower ball joint. This was covered under warranty. After the second failure, both upper and lower ball joints needed to be replaced. The vehicle was then out of warranty. Mepco refused to cover the work under warranty because they felt the upper joints were excessively worn. They believe they were bad before the warranty was purchased.

The consumer states that he has had to replace the upper and lower control arm bushing assembly 4 times in 1 year. The vehicle was checked by the dealer who diagnosed that the "bushing" is deteriorating on both the left and right side.
