Durango 4WD 8-cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 70,000 miles
Transmission "grabbing" and "slipping" in all gears. Most noticable on the highway. Transmission goes from overdrive to one and sometimes two lower gears at highway speed. Vehilcle will jump and sputter. Vehicle was taken to dealer who did not get it repaired. It was also taken to my local mechanic, who says it's a lemon. (I have no faith in the dealer who sold me the garbage after they claimed to have not figured my fianancing correctly abd hit me with a $975 additional fee.) ellenville Dodge.

I have noticed a problem with Dodge Durango and full-sized Dodge pickups. The size and placement of the exterior rear-view mirrors creates a huge blind spot for smaller drivers! taller men who would typically chose this vehicle may not realize that their smaller spouse or kids would not be able to see. The width of the door frame also compounds the problem. We just investigated another right-angle crash with this problem. The female driver, about my height (5'4"), did not see the approaching vehicle and pulled into its path. I know of at least 2 others recently. When my husband and I purchased a pickup 4 years ago, I vetoed his choice of the Dodge because of the visibility problem. A co-worker has noted the problem in her husband's truck. We do not have this problem on our GMC pickup, as the mirrors are placed lower. Dodge has them directly in the sight line, especially when checking traffic to the right. While this may not be a recall issue, study and publicity about this issue should be done soon. Thanks.

Sideview mirrors are oversized and create a blind spot for smaller drivers. Three times my wife came very close to accidents due to this blindspot. Mfr refuse to replace or recognize there is a problem

Side view mirror base is too large to see through, and is blocking the view when trying to makes turns. Dealer had been contacted for this situation. The over sized out side mirror is a design flaw and the driver is experiencing difficulty in making left turns.
