I have a 2000 Dodge Durango R/T with factory 17" wheels. It was purchased from rusnak Dodge in pasadena, California with those wheels on it. After several years of poor braking experience, with the ABS system activating prematurely, and several times at the dealership without a fix, a mechanic accidentally discovered the problem. There is no available selection in the software of the on board computer to allow for 17" wheels. All of the selections are for the 15" wheels that come on the standard model. The dealership was able to correct the problem by measuring the circumferance of my tires, calculating how many times they rotate in a mile, and creating a setting for the 17" wheels. The vehicle stops far better now. I am concerned about other drivers who would have no way to know this, because I am a 27 year veteran fire department captain and paramedic, and respond to traffic collisions quite regularly.
