Durango SLT 4.7L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 60,000 miles

There is an engineering design flaw in the steering column in which several wires get crimped in half due to the usage of the tilt steering option. I use the tilt steering every time I get in/out of my Durango to keep from hitting my legs. This has crimped wires now for the third time. This causes my turn signals not to work and the clock/display on my radio not to show. I have fixed this twice, each time costing me about $400.

Durango SLT 5.9L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 100,000 miles

I own a 2000 Dodge Durango SLT, since 2002 the truck was never used to tow or off road purposes, in fact was garage for most of its life. I bought the car off a lease with 40k on it and since only put 80k. I have replaced just about every exterior motor component except for the alternator and due to age I accept that this is a basic maintenance. However, the main PCM has been replaced 3 times in the pass 3years, unexpectedly on the highway, leaving me in a bad position to be in. Chrysler would not honor their warranty for the parts because each time it failed it was within days if not hours of the one year warranty. Last PCM I replaced I purchased with a Amex Card which doubles its warranty for members. The truck has been running good, however my wife will not drive it anymore because she simply doesn't trust it.

Chrysler needs to acknowledge a problem with the PCM and Revise the part with a failsafe to at least get you off the road not just die in the middle of the highway!!!!

Durango SLT 5.9L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 45,000 miles

To any and all consumers that have this same problem. Go on-line and find a rebuilt PCM. Do not give Dodge/Chrysler $800 dollars. This is my second dodge to have the exact same problem. First car was the Avenger in 2000 when it had only 50,000 miles.

Contact the National Transportation Safety Association and file a complaint (1-888-327-4236). I just got off the phone with Chrysler (1-800-992-1997). They claim that they rarely hear any complaints about the PCM, not enough to warrant any help for the consumer.

I would love to join anyone contemplating a class-action lawsuit!

Durango

After two weeks in the shop, it was determined that they could not fix it so, it was towed to a dealership, that a friend knew and 2000.00 dollars later, it was a power distribution unit failure that took out the battery and fuses under the hood. So all in all this is going to cost me major.
