When I start my vehicle the RPMS will go to about a 1.5 and stay there. The whole vehicle will be shaking during this time. When I put it in drive, the vehicle will only go the 1.5 RPMs. I press on the gas and NOTHING. No services lights come on and I took it to the dealership but of course it never happens when I get there so they can't find anything wrong. Now it is doing it more often. Just not at the dealership :( Ugh...anyone else have this problem? and know how to fix it? PLEASE HELP

accelerating on its own-high idle accelerating on its own-high idle accelerating on its own-high idle

OMG! I was having problems with the engine revving while driving. At first I thought it was a problem with my cruise control. It would be a 2000 rpm and rev up to 3500 or more and then drop suddenly to 1000 or less, sometimes stalling. I took my husband out for a drive so he could see what it was doing. I saw Funny thing is the engine light has never come on. The engine light came on as I said it. The next I took the truck back to the dealer where I bought it. They charged my $79 to tell me all that was wrong with it was a loose wire. Charged me $8 to fix it. Happily I went on my marry little way. Well yesterday I was on my way to meet my mother for lunch and it happened again! I was telling her about it and she said take it back right now. It's an accident waiting to happen. We live a small town that is 10 blocks long with 1 stop light. We left from lunch and drove literally 25 feet to the stop light. My mother was in her car in front of me. We were not moving. My foot was firmly on the brake when all of a sudden my engine revved and my car shot forward. We had been maybe 5 feet apart. My truck rammed her car so hard. I was scared to death. We pulled over and got out and didn't really see much but a little scraped paint. We both headed home. I live about 2 blocks from the dealer. I go in to change and call hubby and tell him what happened and I am taking the truck over to the dealer. My mom calls.. Her bumper fell off on the way home. She has a 2011 Buick SUV. I go out to my car and relook and my bumper its all messed up. Nothing "Broken" but all pushed back and stuff. Ends up over $1K for her car and I am looking at over $2K for mine. Apparently I hit her hard enough to bend my frame a bit. My insurance said they will be suing the dealership for not properly fixing the problem. Apparently, they just pulled the sensor that gave the engine code and wiped it off and put it back in!!!!!

my vehicle began accelerating on its own when I was driving.....it got up to 40 + miles an hour on its own.....as I slowed the vehicle down with the brake the engine was so loud I thought something was going to blow up (very fast idle)....like a plane taking off....nothing simple like the cruise got hit on or my floor mat was stuck under the gas pedal....I may be blonde but I am not an idiot! Changed the idle motor just because I was bound and determined to do all I could at the moment to correct the problem...garage was not sure that was the issue and it happened again so I guess I wasted that money and am still scared to drive it....another complaint to follow...

ok second time this happened, vehicle accelerated on its own and idle was high, this time the brake did not even stop it completely-the first time this occurred was a month ago and the brake did stop it-took it to the dodge dealer (unplugged the idle - something which should make vehicle die but it ran better so it would not just hop on the trailer so quickly)-of course it supposedly was not doing it when I got it there-it threw no codes as they performed diagnostics-their paperwork said reconnect ais & tps sensor, road test, working properly at this time....$79 bucks for a big fat nothing I guess
