I had a engine code light up for P0156 after the Durango started to spit and sputter like the engine was going to cut off. After doing a little Youtubing, o2 sensor are a common issue that can cause engine misfires. I went to the parts store and bought a new one. Tried to replace it with no luck (caked solid with rust). Took to a local mechanic and they changed it for $50 (out $84 bucks labor plus sensor). The 5.7 Hemi is too sensitive to sensor hiccups. Dodge needs to change the PCM programming to not cause the truck to stall out or shut off for minor things that will go bad at some point. Engines cutting out on the highway or busy streets is dangerous.

Have replaced the erg valve, spark plugs, radiator, radiator cap, water pump, head on passenger side of the vehicle and all other small parts. Do not know why the check engine light continues to stay on. The reason we replaced the passenger side head is because the rocker arms blew out.

Ever since the first month that I bought this car, the check engine light has been coming on intermittently. They have told me that there is no problem all the way to telling me it's a bad gas cap. I have had it in the shop at least 8 times for this problem, and they have never solved it. Oh yeah, they also said it may be the gas I am putting in it, The dealership definately treats me as though they think I am just a stupid woman that doen't know any better.

Where should I start

I've had a recall for the instrument cluster

I've had 2 check engine lights come on, one was for the knock sensor and my latest is for code P0456,which is for a evap leak which I am not going to start to dig for under the hood.

At 23,000 miles the internals on my a/c compressor exploded and I had to have that fixed.Thank god I bought an extended warranty.

And as for the brake squealing at 30,000 miles,all I did was remove the brake pads and bevel the edges down.The squeal has seemed to go away.

I have contacted Chrysler about these problems and am still waiting for a response back.

The stalling out at low speeds happened right after this. I thought it was my gas and used better gas and a treatment. It did not help at all. It does not happen all the time, but I was in Wal-Mart and did a couple of stops for ped traffic and the next time I took my foot off the gas at a low speed, it died again.

From day 1, fuel would overspill and they sent me a recall notice for that. I took it to the dealer and they smiled and said it was fine. Now, I have to listen to hear the fuel get close to the top (or guess) and I have rust under the fuel nozzle because the gas that overspilled ate the paint.

This was my second and LAST Durango. When the dealer doesn't want to take care of my issue, they won't get my business. I think I will stay away from Chrysler/Dodge products all together. It is not good business when someone spends so much money to get so little service and I am not going to be their victim a third time.

It seems the check engine light is tied in with the gas spewing issue. I had Autozone run the diagnostic on it and it came back with something about the gas cap which basically interprets to the vent valve problem which causes the spewing gas. I haven't had it fixed yet so I can't say for sure that fixing the vent valve issue will stop the check engine light. I still love my Durango.

When I brought my plastic laden 2005 Dodge Durango to the dealer for inspection I was told it failed emissions due to check engine light being on depicting a unknown reason. And I would need a diagnostic at the tune of $100 to find the code. I said sure go ahead. After the test I was told I would need a new EGR valve and oil pressure switch to the shocking price of $700 of course I told them I would get it fixed elsewhere. After having the repairs done at Pep Boys for $294 and doing a proper drive cycle of well over 100 miles I returned to Chrysler dealer a week later to complete inspection. This time the car would not test stating a further drive cycle was needed of 50 mile or more. Of course they offered to do it for $95 being minimum and of course I declined. So after a week and 100 more mile of drive cycle I returned to dealer to complete inspection. During my visit I had the unfortunate opportunity to watch a customer testing driving a Chrysler Sebring..people really need to do their homework. Sad. I was finally called to the service desk only to be told..you guessed it....the Durango will not test due to the catalytic converter not being hot enough to register on machine and would need an hour of driving at the low price of $95. And due to the fact that it was raining pretty hard could be why the converter is not heating properly. The service person told me this is common with Chrysler especially in the winter. Of course I refused the drive cycle charge and told her I would be back on Monday after a nice long drive. Stay away from Chrysler products PLEASE!!! I also notice my Durango stalled during sharp turns during parking...it has not repeated since EGR valve replacement. If your check engine light is on go to Autozone for free diagnostic to check for codes and have it repaired.

I turned my truck on, took something out of the trunk, then went to go on my way. The truck moved really slow and the engine raced, I looked at the instrument panel and the engine light went on.

I looked up how to check the code and found the code is P0700 Transmission Control System Malfunction. I now need to take it back to the dealer ship.
