Durango 5.7L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 160,000 miles

Developed an annoying ticking in the engine. ticking is loud as mess when started...but eventually quiets down...still can hear it in the cabin. Mechanic told me it its a leak in the exhaust manifold. Aside from this latest issue - I've had problems with this vehicle from the start. Shift solenoid messed up, idler pulley reduced to nothing...can not wait to get rid of this truck

Durango SLT 4.7L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 87,000 miles

The ticking noise I experienced was due to the exhaust manifold leaking. It started quiet and only when the engine was cold and eventually was ticking all the time under acceleration. Dealer removed the rusted and broken manifold bolts and replaced with new. It's been quiet as new ever since!

Durango Limited 5.7L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 20,000 miles

My Durango developed a ticking noise, it sounds like a valve or lifter hanging up. I took to the dealer just before Christmas, they told me it sounds like the exhaust at the manifold was loose, but when I got it back it sounded the same. So I took it back and was told the same thing, and again when i picked it up the same sound. So I took it to 3 different mechanics just for them tolisten and tell me if they heard what I heard and agreed something was wrong. So again i take it to the local dealer and when I pick it up he tells me his mechanics don't hear anything. I didn't buy the vehicle from this particular dealer so i just left it go. I then made an appointment where I purchased it, the head mechanic is very polite and tells he will check it out, but he has heard the this noise in many of the Durango's dating back to the 2004 models, and there is not much he can do. I thank him for his honesty unlike the first dealer (Naugle Motors). But I am not happy and not sure what to do? Ithink i will send a letter to the Dodge Company, but I do not expect any result.I guess I could just tell people that it is a Deisel Motor. HaHa
