I was on the interstate and I had the cruise control on. I hit the brakes to slow down and cruise control deactivated. I stopped at the stop sign. I proceeded through the stop sign and was making a left hand turn on to the overpass over the interstate. I was doing about 25 mph when I felt the throttle come out from under my foot. I hit the button on the steering wheel but it keep accelerating. I hit it multiple times and it finely went off after a few times. The vehicle had accelerated to almost 35 mph. When it went off the motor started making this horrible noise. It sounds like a broken connecting rod or it dropped a valve. The vehicle is out of warranty and it happened on the Friday Dec. 28th. This is Sunday the 30th. Havent had a chance to let anyone look at it. I will probably have to do the work myself.

2005 Dodge Durango. The dealership case number is: 4607005. When the consumer set the cruise control and was going down a hill, the vehicle will gain about 15 mph and the consumer would have to step on the brake to slow the vehicle down. The consumer took the vehicle to the dealer and they sent the information to the manufacturer, the dealer took the vehicle for a test drive and the manufacturer said that it was designed that way. So they said apply the brakes when necessary. The local dealer/chief mechanic said that this should not be like this.
