problem #1

Jan 182012

Durango SLT 4.7L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 90,000 miles

The transmission cooler lines which connect the tranny cooler to the transmission and flow pressurized transmission fluid leak when operating the vehicle. There is a transition piece between metal tubing to rubber hose which has been poorly crimped by the factory. My dealer said this was a common failure point. The fix is to replace the entire line from the tranny to the cooler. Dealer quoted $400 because it required removing or loosening one side of the drive axle to be able to reach the line and disconnect it.

I check the tranny fluid level and add as necessary. Not a huge problem but it is annoying.
