  • 53,000 miles
Exhaust started ticking and upon investigating found 2 rear manifold bolts broken off allowing exhaust fumes to leak into engine compartment. Talked to Dodge dealer and found it is a very common problem and very expensive to repair.

On my 2006 Dodge Durango, the studs and bolts holding the exhaust manifold together failed. This required the replacement of two gaskets, four double ended studs and two bolts as well as twenty retainers. This vehicle did not have any off road driving and the studs and bolts failed during normal everyday wear and tear, which seems very unusual for a vehicle less than three years old. Is there a possibility that inferior materials were used in these studs and bolts leading to the failure?

I was just wondering if anyone else had problems with both exhaust manifold gaskets failing at 40,000 miles on a 2006 Dodge Durango. Fortunately I had an extended warranty that covered the problem. All other cars that I have had have gone much longer before needing the gaskets replaced.
