While filling the gas tank, the pump shuts off, then fuel pours out of the filler. This happens at any gas station, and almost every time we fill up the tank. This an an extreme hazard and a very costly inconvenience. Every time we fill up, gas is wasted, the car becomes a dangerous and horribly smelling hazard. Dodge recalled the 2005 Durango for the same issue, but has yet to do the same for the following model year!

You can not fill the gas tank over 3/4 full as it will result in a massive fuel spillage out of the filler neck. The backwash out of the tank will cover you and the side of the car and you with fuel. It does not matter what kind of fuel station is filling it happens every time. If there was any kind of spark a large fire would occur.

A month after I bought my 2006 Dodge Durango that is when it started spitting out gas. It doe it when I try to fill it up. I have had this truck for two years and nothing has fixed the problem. I am afraid to fill it up because every time I do it spits back out on me to where it get on my clothes. Due to the faulty fuel check valve my vehicle has a line of rust straight down from the gas cap. Dodge repaired the check valve but will not cover any body work due to the mileage/date when the recall repair was performed. With Dodge being at fault for faulty equipment they should also cover the damage caused to my vehicle from the equipment. I have contacted Dodge on multiple occasions but have been turned down for a resolution. Please help!

Fuel tank overflows during fill up. Spilling tons of gas. Because of the overflow there is a lot of rust forming on body were gas tank is. I have taken it to body shop to see about getting the rust fixed but said would have to replace that whole area because rust ate through. To be honest I thought I was doing something wrong when filling up at the gas station or something was wrong with the pump for a long time until I started researching on internet. I just spoke to Dodge dealer and they told me that this is a new problem that Dodge just extended the warrenty on so we can get the fuel part fixed. My problem is that we almost have this paid for and would like to keep for a few more years, has low miles, but the rust around gas tank is bad. I think there should be some help from Dodge on getting this fixed since it was their fault.

When filling my vehicle at the gas station, the gas will overflow or spit out of the tank instead of stopping normally when the tank nears full level. This happens no matter how slowly I am refueling. There is already a recall for this exact issue on the 05 models but there still is not one for the 06 even though there are several complaints just like this. This is a very dangerous fire hazard that needs to be dealt with before something terrible happens.

Fuel tank overflows during fill up.I just receive a recall on this issue on 2/01/2013. I bought this car new on March of 2006. I don't know when this problem starts but notice the problem and blame the gas station for their pump not working properly. This problem has caused me a lot of problem because of gasoline shooting out of a tank to spill all over me (loss of clothes, shoes and rash on my arm, hand, foot and legs).now my car where the fuel tanks is located caused the paint to rust ($600 to fix) and my bumper to discolored and because I rotate my tires most of my log nuts($200) has to be replaced.I cannot quantify how much gasoline I loss during that period.I have called them regarding compensation for this matter and was told that they will fix the problem which they did but not compensate me.

Updated 3/20/13 the consumer stated within two seconds of the automatic shut off of the fuel nozzle, gas spewed back out of the filler opening with the nozzle still inserted.

When trying to put fuel to fill up the car gas explodes out of tank. This happens any time when trying to put gas in the vehicle, it's probably at least a half gallon each and every time, it gets all over me the vehicle the ground. It's to the point were I can't even fill up, fuel shouldn't come out when filling a vehicle up and with the summer months upon us this is a great hazard. I would figure this is a major fire hazard and would need to be fixed, 2005 Dodge Durangos were recalled for the exact same thing, but I haven't seen anything for the 2006 Dodge Durangos.

The case manager looked up my VIN and said the defect is not covered under any extended warranty for my specific vehicle.

This problem started when the vehicle was about 3 1/2 years old. It did not do this from the beginning of ownership. When fueling the car, if you attempt to fill it up completely, there is always a back splash of fuel splashing out of the fuel tank and onto the car, pavement and of course, the person filling up the car. I am never able to completely fill up the car because of this. Also, when this happens, there is a chance of a fire occurring. Not safe at all. My research found that 2005 Dodge Durangos were recalled for this same problem (campaign id number 05V034000), yet nothing has ever been done to fix the same issue with 2006 models. Please do something about this problem!

While fueling the car at the gas station I keep continuing to have back-flow of gas when filling up. It is happening every-time and I think this is not a safe thing to have gas coming flying back out and getting over the ground. This is a real safety hazard. I have found there is a lot of issues with the 2005 models and now the 2006's are having the same problem. The inquiry is RQ08005 and the recall is 05V034000 (fuel system, gasoline storage tank assembly filler pipe and cap). We need to pressure them to fix this issue for all the Durango's.
