Durango SLT 4.7L

This can get you killed. Driving in traffic, running about 60mph and your vehicle stalls - and you have to veer off coasting or stop and restart it. I called Detroit and they aren't concerned. It's most likely a TIPM issue.

My Durango keeps dying while I am driving it. It has no constants but will die while I am going over 70 on the freeway, while stopped at a light, traveling side streets, reversing out of my driveway, and parked in a parking lot. It is very scary losing all control of the vehicle (no power steering or brakes) when you are traveling at 78 on the freeway with people tailgating. I am terrified that the next time it happens I will not be able to safely get out of everyone's way. I transport my family and young children that I babysit regularly and this is very unsafe.

My mechanic said until it displays a code it would just be a costly guessing game so I contacted the CEO of Dodge. He had his secretary call me and tell me that my mechanic wasn't good enough and I have to take it to theirs, so I did. Dodge service says give us $640 to tear it apart because we can't figure out what is wrong with it on initial $130 inspection.

I can't afford to just throw money at it and I explained this to her. She kept repeating that it is the owner's responsibility to pay for repairs. My argument is how can I pay for something that their car isn't even really saying exists?? And it is also very frustrating that they don't seem to care one lick about the safety of my family or myself. I wonder if they will care when this turns into a lawsuit?!

It keeps shutting off while I am driving. I am afraid to drive my kids in it. What do I do if I am on the highway with my kids and it shuts off? It doesn't do it for the repairmen.... They can't find anything wrong with it.

Severe safety issue!!!!! My Dodge Durango dies/stalls out multiple times a day. On city streets and intersections as well as while driving 65mph the expressway. You have 20 seconds to try to get your vehicle off of the road before you lose all steering ability. Stall out. No warning. No chugging. No check engine light. While driving 55mph yesterday on the highway my Durango stalled out....with no where to pull off the road. I was nearly rear ended by a construction dump truck!!! With my 6 year old son in the backseat.

VERY disappointed that dodge has not addressed this issue, nor issued a recall for a known problem that is a safety issue! I am taking my vehicle to a different dodge dealership tomorrow to see if they can figure it out.

I WILL NEVER, EVER, EVER....BUY ANOTHER DODGE VEHICLE!!!

Durango XLS 5.7L

  • Automatic transmission

The Durango Stalled 13 times in 2 blocks!!! I purchased a 2007 Dodge Durango SLT 4WD Hemi in December of 2007 with a bumper to bumper lifetime warranty. It has been taken in for regular maintenance and oil changes since it was purchased.

In 2013 I started having MAJOR stalling issues with the vehicle, the dealership handed it over to the engineers at Chrysler to trouble shoot the problem since it was not pulling codes. At that time they determined that the Coil Pack needed to be replaced as the Hemi was designed to allow water to run from the windshield down to the top of the engine allowing rust to eventually cause this damage. The Catalytic Converter, Fuel Pump, Oil Pressure Switch among other things were replaced at this time as well....

Now in November 2014 it started stalling in flight, no warning, it just stops...usually in the middle of the intersection! I have been very fortunate to be able to get it started and safely out of the way each time this has happened to me, however it does not always restart! The dealerships in North Phoenix (AZ) have been working on this issue for months now. They have replaced the Fuel Pump 3 times, the main computer (ECM), the Throttle Position Sensor, completed the Fuel System Service/Cleaning....all which has done NOTHING to fix the issue!

This is SAFETY ISSUE DODGE!! You are knowingly selling vehicles that have issues beyond your engineering departments scope! You are knowingly selling vehicles that are putting your customers lives at risk! Families purchase these vehicles, they are buckling their children in with the expectation that Dodge took pride in what they built and that their family would arrive safely at their destination each time they got behind the wheel. WRONG!

I have been told by the Dodge dealership through this whole process that they cannot figure out the issue and that I need to continue to try and drive the vehicle until a check engine light comes on! I can't even get the vehicle to make it home from the dealership!! I would like them to put their wife behind the wheel with their kids in that back and send them on the road, I bet they would figure out the issue much quicker if it were their family stuck on the side of the road, or in my case the middle of the intersection.

I am fortunate to have the coverage of the lifetime warranty that has covered the cost of most of these repairs however not everyone that owns a Dodge has this benefit. The cost of the repairs at this point has probably exceeded the value of the vehicle! Here it is January 2, 2015 and my vehicle STILL does not run! They have NO IDEA what is wrong, the $320.13 Fuel Service did nothing, I am no mechanic but it is not a fuel issue, this is an electrical issue. We had mechanics that used to work on vehicles before they created a dummy light for every problem. These guys need to learn how to think outside of the box! You can't always plug a computer into a vehicle and get the answer to the problem. When the lives of your customers are being put at risk you better have an answer and issue a recall.

I would never purchase another Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep product again! I have this 2007 Dodge Durango that I will keep and continue to use this lifetime warranty in hopes of eventually solving my issues. They must offer a lifetime warranty for a reason, the vehicles that they produce are garbage and you are going to need that warranty to keep that vehicle on the road! I just hope that no one else has this issue and that no lives are lost because of their failure to produce a quality product that they stand behind.

Last month my mother's 07 Durango with 5.7 Hemi died 6 times on the way to my town. I have searched for a solution since then. Replaced the Crankshaft Sensor. Checked all wiring harnesses. Replaced spark plugs. Today I dug down and unplugged the PCM checking for the mythical corrosion from water leak fix. Nothing. I did find corrosion on the ASD relay. Thought EUREKA! MUST BE IT!!!!!!......nope.

I see about a million people out there with this common problem. Is there really a fix for this? OR do people just give up and drive the stupid thing off a cliff. I'm about there!!!!!

Loved my Durango until at 5 yrs the warranty expires and the engine decides to completely stall at various times. Many times while idling, one time driving 80 down the interstate. When the engine stalled I would lose all power-steering.

Took it in to the Dodge dealership and they cleaned out the fuel system, desludged the throttle body and did an engine tune up. Cost about 400 dollars and it drove OK for a couple of weeks when it again died on the interstate driving around 60. It also was very jerky- like it wouldn't shift into gears correctly.

After reading all the complaints on this website I decided not to throw anymore money down the drain and turned it in for a new vehicle. Didn't really want a new note but was too scared to drive it anymore.

I have a 07 Durango Hemi and my car has been shutting off a week after I bought it ,I took it back to the dealer and just like most others with this problem thay couldn't find anything on the computer,I filled a lemon law complaint and thay brushed it off "by law I was to get a replacement vehicle or my money back" after the final attempt to fix it the third time. thay are trying to get me to pay them and the finance company money for a to get out of my loan for a car that can kill me and my kids or someone else in a reck if it stalls.I am going to get legal help for this matter because thay are trying to take advantage of me and its not fair. If anyone wants to join me in this class action suite contact me at thejumpoff718@hotmail.com something has to be done to stop this.
