Durango Limited Hemi V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 62,450 miles

My 2007 Durango Limited was bought "Newsed" in January, 2009 with 22K miles on it. I've had no major issues with it until this ridiculous circumstance which started October, 2010. Of special note, we have put an additional 43K miles on this vehicle since our purchase. Car suffered from a broken lifter in cylinder #1 and had to be replace. 2nd dealership replaced lifter, as 1st dealership after 4 attempts, couldn't figure out what was even WRONG with the vehicle. On the way HOME from the 2nd dealership (75 miles away), the check engine light came on. This after they've had the car for 13 days (just as long as I had they're RENTAL CAR). Spoke to service tech to set up day to bring the vehicle back. Brought vehicle back to dealer. 2 days later was told the replacement part came from their Denver distribution center instead of their one in NY. Apparently the extra travel damaged the ordered part, because THAT part also failed once installed and the process (of ordering another part and installing it) needed to be performed again. ANOTHER week on the lift at the dealership.

My rant/irritation is more about the ineptitude of the service departments in TWO separate dealerships, than the vehicle itself. This issue took a total of 4 weeks of actual at dealership time to remedy. NO ISSUE should take a month to remedy! This is our 2nd Durango, and quite probably our last. Not only last Durango..last Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep/Fiat/Plymouth/AMC/WHATEVER product! At least Daimler was smart enough to quickly disassociate themselves from the stench that is Chrysler, LLC...
