I went to engage the emergency brake when it popped and moved freely without any resistance to the floor board. I knew something bad had happened. Soon thereafter the emergency brake light came on without engaging the ebrake. The ebrake was also not engaging the ebrakes on the rear wheels. Took it in to my repair shop and they said that rust had formed around the actuator piece that hooks onto the passenger side rear ebrake and it had frozen up. They said the replacement part would take weeks to get in. They ended up sanding off the rust that was causing the rear ebrake to freeze up and got it working. That is one reason I love the shop I go to. They are resourceful.
