heater turns on by itself when it is completely turned off

I'm sure this probably has something to do with the TIPM complaints. My Durango's heater was turned off completely and just decided it would turn on. This was strange (at first) and then became apparent that the situation would persist after shutting the heater off.......it turned on again a few minutes later. I'm not sure what is going on but I'm almost certain that there will be more issues to come. I'm already experiencing problems starting the vehicle at times.
