This problem may be covered under warranty. Ask your Dodge dealer.
The transmission would hesitate when it was about to shift at approximately 20-25 mph. We had to depress the gas down to get the vehicle to shift gears. This was the same in my 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee.
Dealer said that was normal for the type of transmission on the vehicle.

The transmission in our 2012 Durango with the 3.6L V6 is really sluggish when shifting into 2nd gear around the 20 to 25mph range. It reminds me of when your driving a manual stick shift and you shift into a higher gear too soon and it bogs a little until the tranny and engine speed catch up with each other. This makes the Durango feel sluggish and to be honest, crappy!
The only was to get past this is to drive it like your always in a hurry by staying on the gas pedal. If you casually accelerate it shows up like a nagging reminder. I would think that the transmission computer could be reprogrammed to shift with smother timing. This would make this SUV feel like a different experience.
Of course the answer that our local dealership gave me was bring it in for a $120 diagnosis if there is one. From what I've read online it looks like their just gonna tell me that its normal and I'll waste $120. I wish I would have purchased the Hemi version with the 6 speed transmission. We currently have approx. 27,000 miles on it
