As we were driving down the road at approx 50 mph and our Durango shut down completely and would not turn on. There was smoke coming from the engine as well. It scares me to think that a vehicle can just shut down with no warning and your left to pull yourself and your family to safety and pray that another vehicle will not hit you from behind. We pulled to the side of the road but we were still blocking traffic. It had to be towed to the dealership and after they charged us $125 just for checking it, they discovered it was the alternator. The part and the labor will be $900..
