door insulation causing rust from the inside out door insulation causing rust from the inside out door insulation causing rust from the inside out

"WARRANTY EXPIRED - NOTHING WE CAN DO" Is the response that we received from TWO Dodge dealerships on the island and Chrysler Corp.

In 2015 we purchased a brand new Dodge Durango RT. It is very well maintained with less than 18k miles. Last year (2020), we noticed what looked like a bubble under the paint of the back passenger door. We took it to a detail shop and were told to check with the body shop. We took it to a body shop and were instructed to go through the dealership for a manufacture defect. Dealership #1 said "warranty expired." Took it back to the body shop to have the work done out of pocket. When the body shop removed the door panel, it was discovered that what was used for insulation was causing the door to rust from the inside out. Went back to dealership #1 and they REFUSED to look/take pictures and refer to Chrysler. Dealership #2 the same. We spoke with Chrysler Corp and went to level 2 where we had a person handling our case. After being told to take it back to dealership #2 for diagnosis/confirmation we can move forward. BIG LIE!!! Now, we can't get in touch with the person that WAS handling our case, Chrysler Corp reaffirmed "WARRANTY EXPIRED" and now we are back to having to replace TWO doors because of this rust issue that is so bad that replacing to doors is the only to stop the rust.

How can a 2015 car have rust between the insulation and the door and not be considered a manufacture defect? And to be so bad that the entire insulation piece has rust between it and the door? To the point that it's showing itself from UNDER the paint on the outside of the door? TERRIBLE!

ALL DODGE OWNERS: While your car is under warranty, check for any defects so that Dodge can be held accountable for the products they sell. Please pass this message on to any/all Dodge owners.
