One seatbelt failed completely, refused to retract. The other one is failing. The first is in the process of getting replaced and the second is inevitably going to fail. Somehow this vehicle is not covered under the extended protection regarding the seatbelt for the 2013-2015 Dodge Durangos and Jeep Cherokees that had this problem. The dealers will not provide assistance and this a safety issue for me and my family.

Hello, I just had my two front seatbelts replaced because of the safety recall of the pretensioners. I also noticed that the 3rd row seatbelts are having the same issue the upper part that holds the seatbelt is cracked and seatbelts won't retract back in once my kids use them I need to manually feed them back in inch by inch until it all goes back in slowly.

Rear row seatbelt failed and no longer retracts. This happened at 60k miles with occasional use. Many users Report seatbelt problems in the driver, passenger and second row which is currently covered under an extended warranty. However, the third row is not covered and made with the same defective parts.

First noticed the seat belt not retracting completely on the driver seat. When buckled the seatbelt feels loose and when unbuckling it has to be physically moved to the side to be able to exit vehicle. This issue has started happening on the front passenger seat as well. Upon looking to see if something was in the way of it retracting the plastics on both sides appears cracked. Vehicle will be taken into dealership to be inspected. I question the effectiveness during an accident if the plastic was to give away if the seatbelt would somehow be compromised.

2nd row seat belts will not retract properly after being unbuckled. I am concerned they won't work properly in a collision.

problem #2

Durango

  • 100,000 miles
The plastic sleeve above the seat belt tensioner on the front passenger seat has cracked, pinching the seat belt in turn and making the belt itself unable to retract. This prohibits the belt from being tensioned and unable to take in slack. The front passenger pillar loop overmolding has cracked. Issue is too common! *** see many other examples of the same issue here: Https://

The front passenger pillar loop overmolding has cracked. It has cracked in such a manner that the webslot width has been reduced to a point where it pinches the webbing. The belt can be extracted for wearing, but the retractor spring cannot retractor the webbing. This creates a condition where the passenger can buckle up, and if they lean forward, they can inadvertently create slack in the belt system. This happened over the winter in Michigan.
