The contact owns a 2000 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated that while driving at 55 MPH, there was an abnormal noise and noticed that the vehicle's windshield wiper and blinkers had become inoperable. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle had been diagnosed by an independent mechanic. The contact was informed that the failure was due to a faulty wiper transmission linkage, a relay, and a switch. The relay and switch were replaced however, the wiper transmission linkage was not repaired due to parts not being available. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and determined that parts were not available. The failure mileage was approximately 110.000

The serpentine belt on 96-2000 Chrysler minivans slipping off is a known issue and has been for years. Time and time again Chrysler has refused to issue a recall for it. It is due to a manufacturing defect in one of the engine mounts causing a pulley misalignment. The belt slipping off causes loss of power steering, water pump, and alternator. The power steering loss can cause a driver to not be able to correct in time and cause an accident. The loss of the water pump can cause overheating resulting in engine damage. The loss of the alternator can cause the car to eventually stop running when the battery is drained, causing motorists to be stranded. I live in Alaska and I'm not always in cellular signal when driving and temperatures in the winter get down to -30 F at times. I can't wait sometimes several hours for a tow truck to get to me without risking hypothermia at those temperatures. This needs to be made into a recall so it can get fixed.

Hi I own a 2000 Dodge Grand Caravan.have been having problems for about a yr. Tried contacting Dodge they said they couldn't help me or give me any suggestions. They said because the van has a lot of miles. I went online to research the problem. Apparently a lot of people are having the same issues as me.I did have my mechanic chk it out. He could not resolve the issue after 1wk. It started with a dead battery, the gauges on the dashboard sometimes not working, the ac is blowing hot air or not working at all and the drivers side window not going down.now none of the gauges work including my gas gauges, speedometer, air, window, car temp and the lights stay on when I turn the car on. I am a single mom I cannot pay ridiculous amounts of money for them to figure it out. There are a lot of people on the internet that have the same issues but have not addressed the issue with Dodge. Someone needs to do something about this issue. This is very dangerous I have run out of gas on the highway and on a road where gas is not off the exit. I am a mother of two and that's not safe. Please see if you could help me. Thank you

The contact stated there have been numerous electrical problems which resulted in the dashboard panel lights flashing on and off while driving. She took the vehicle to a dealer for multiple attempts to correct this problem. Also, there was a leak within the roof, resulting in damage to the carpeting. There is a slashing sound within the roof compartment after a heavy rain. The carpet has been replaced five times, and the television was replaced once as a result of the leak.. updated 11/30/2005 - glazed serpentine belt caused grinding noise when turning. The left middle seat head rest came loose from the guide rod. The door sticks and the siding door makes noise when opening. The rear window rattles when opened. The fog lihjt are ionpertive. The horn spunded weak because the keyless entry remote needed to be reprogrammed. The tail light had moisture in it. The locking gas cap was hard to open. The rear tire had a slow leak.

I purchased my vehicle 2 weeks ago when I was driving down the freeway, it felt like I hit something but nothing was in the road. I assumed I had a blowout. When I pulled to the side of the road the hood was smoking, and the tires were fine. I then proceeded to open the hood to find a fire. The fire department came to put out the fire and suggested that it was an electrical malfunction. I am currently in the process of having the vehicle evaluated to find out if this is true.

I recently purchased my van used, and have had the following problems with it..the automatic door looks work when they want to. I have had my childs care seat come unbuckled from the middle bench seat before. My brake lights come on when they want to and stay on, in the middle of the night you will get up and find the brake lights have come on for no reason. The lastest problem is when you open a door on the van, the open door light comes on and my low gas light comes on and makes its warning tone and my fuel gauge goes to empty. When you close the door and the warning lights go off and my fuel gauge returns to full.
