Clear coat and paint is peeling off leaving rust on this van it should not be doing this we have older cars not doing this at all, I see a lot of dodger vans doing this very same thing.

Significant rusting has spread on the driver side rear wheel corner panel and beneath the sliding door rocker panel, leaving large areas of visible rust and missing paint, as well as revealing eroded/chipped chunks of metal of the undercarriage. Multiple body shop exams have shown that this problem has originated from the inside out, leaving little to no easy fix. There is also minor rusting of the same sort on the passenger side of the van as well. Expert consultants have determined that this damage may result in serious hazard if/when the rocker or panel portions of the affected areas drop from the vehicle and damage either of the rear tires. This also poses a risk to any traffic that may be trailing the vehicle at the time parts separating due to rust. Independent research has shown that Chrysler has removed critical requirements, such as galvanization, as design-to-cost measures that have contributed to the increase in these problems in the field. Chrysler should recall, and if not, then a class action suit should be pursued to hold Chrysler responsible for these well known design deficiencies.

The contact owns a 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated while driving approximately 30 mph, the engine stalled without warning. The contact also stated that the shifting had to be tampered in order to restart the vehicle after multiple attempts. In addition, the automatic door on the driver side would not close properly, which caused her to drive the vehicle with the door completely open. The problem recurred multiple times. Also, the driver side air bag warning light illuminated continuously. The vehicle was not taken to a mechanic for a diagnosis and the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure and the approximate failure mileage was 104,000.

Power door locks fail to operate either with switches or key fob on some of the doors. Can't get into the vehicle on doors that don't have key holes. Doors don't lock when leaving vehicle parked causing potential theft opportunity.

I pushed the button to open the sliding doors and there have been so many times when the door will close without having been told to. Typically, the sensor will catch when there is a hand or a child pushing it back open, but there have been occasions, like today that it started to open, then about 18 inches after it had begun opening that it reverses and closes and does not have the sensor kick in. Today the door slammed into my left shoulder. I had to use all my strength to push it off my shoulder and to override the motor to get it to open. I am so grateful my 2 year old was still on the shipping cart because that would have crushed his hand if he wasn't able to get out of the way. Most times it is the passenger side siding door that does this. Last week was the first time that the drivers side door did the same thing, which pinned my wrist between the door and the frame, and tried to close on it twice. I am personally afraid that one of these times the door is going to forcefully close and cause some severe damage to one of my children.

2005 Dodge Caravan the power sliding doors on both sides started with only opening or closing a small amount now they don't do anything at all. The doors are no longer power doors the only way to get them open is manually. I did a search to try and find out what the problem could be and found 1000's of complaints of the same issues. My van has had problems from the get go when we purchased it, they wold fix it and it would work for a while and then the same problems would start again this happened over and over and now the warranty has expired. I would like to know what needs to happen to start a recall or a class action law suit against them?

Multiple electrical failures. Backup lights, door locks, interior lights, right side power window, and sliding side doors. The items do not function on our van. Upon pulling the battery terminal these items will work for a short period of time and then cease to function again. After extensive research on the internet and several hundred dollar in dealer "repairs" I have discovered that this is due to a software problem with the body control module on the 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan. The fix is supposed to be a firmware update to the BCM provided by Dodge. The issue I have is that if this is a software/firmware update to the van's computer why should the dealer expect me to pay $70 so my vehicle will function properly the same as it did when purchased. No modifications have been made to the van and it currently has just over 60K mileage. These problems have been around prior the end of the 3/36K warranty but since such a long time has passed the dealer will no longer honor any type of warranty on this vehicle. My complaint is that if this is a known software issue/fault with the van's software then Dodge should upgrade them for free. It's not as if this is a wear and tear or customer induced failure. This is a fault in the core design of the vehicle.

Door assembly has failed completed. It started with driver side rear sliding door - system could only open door a few inches, and then the door could not be latched closed. Eventually it would not open at all electronically, but manually started to work again. Identical problem then arose with passenger sliding door. Had it looked at by dealership, claimed the track was gone. Door then could not be opened at all. Track completely disintegrated and the door will now open manually, but cannot be locked without climbing through vehicle.
