Went to leave for work and van did not start. Thought I didn't turn the key enough as I've been known to do that. Started right up on 2nd try. Same day went to pick up lunch and engine cranked but van would not start. Tried 3 or 4 times. Tried starting it after lunch - same thing - cranked but wouldn't start. Went back out an hour later and it cranked a couple of times and finally started.
Check engine light had already been on for EGR valve that needed replacing but I had been putting off until hubby had time to do it. Brought it in to dealer and told them to replace EGR valve & do oil change I was due for and let me know if it was throwing another code that would have caused it not to start.
Got a call the next day that the front control module (FCM) was the culprit and was "interrupting the ignition." Was told that it would likely be an intermittent problem until the FCM completely crapped out. With a 1 year old and a newborn I couldn't take the risk of the van not starting when I'm out somewhere with them so I told them to replace it.
